NFL betting features prominently on the weekend sports betting card and as we enter week 5 there are plenty of angles for profits. Join us as we spot a few games and deliver our select NFL picks.

Detroit Lions +7.0 vs. Green Bay Packers -7.0

Analysis: Detroit Lions (3-1, 1-1 away) are coming off a big win over Chicago Bears 40-32 and they are first in the NFC right now. Yet they descend on the Packers as the significant underdogs at +260 at Bet365 to win straight up.

Tale told it was a bit of a topsy-turvy game against the Bears that in the end wasn’t as convincing as it should have been. In fact, the Bears lead 10-7 after the first quarter and then stormed back late in the fourth quarter to bring the score from 40-16 to within 8 points. Lions were rather lucky in the end truth be told, although they did really light up in the second quarter and score 24 straight points including 3 TDS in less than four minutes. Now that was impressive.

Next up for the Lions are the Packers (1-2, 1-0 home), a side they haven’t beaten since 1991. They are 1-8 against the Packers with Aaron Rodgers starting and therefore it’s hardly surprising that sportsbooks across the board are tipping them at the disadvantage.

Packers are coming off a loss and a bye week and they’ll be looking to get back on track. Good news for Packers is that Eddie Lacy could be fit for the game. It’s no secret the Packers are tough to beat at home and especially by the Lions so that tips the scale towards Packers winning at home. The Lions have made some inroads in recent years and their offense is looking much better so expect them to keep it closer than the odds would suggest.

NFL Picks: Green Bay Packers to win straight up and Lions to cover.

Seattle Seahawks -3.0 vs. Indianapolis Colts +3.0

Analysis: Seattle Seahawks (4-0, 2-0 away) are one of few teams that remain undefeated through four laps and with a date with Andrew Luck and the Colts looming it’s quite likely they’ll remain perfect through five weeks of sports betting.  Sure Colts are coming off a big win over Jacksonville Jaguars but all that result revealed is how bad the Jaguars are this season.

Now don’t take this the wrong way. Sure Luck and Richardson together, they are the quintessential match made in heaven but the Colts (3-1, 1-1 home) are due a letdown. Certainly, this matchup will not deliver as one-sided a result as their past few games have. Not if Russell Wilson who has been stellar so far maintains his focus and not if the Hawks defense that is one of the best this season rattles Luck’s cage as they can.

Granted both are enjoying good form and, as such, there is sports betting value on both sides of the coin. Sure Colts might just defy the odds and win this game but for our part we’re going with the NFL odds makers here and taking the Seahawks as our pick.

Denver Broncos -7.0 vs. Dallas Cowboys +7.0

I Peyton Manning has been putting on a clinic in the first four rounds of NFL action and he’s showing no signs of letting up. Last week’s 52-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles was case-and-point. Heck, Manning wasn’t needed in the fourth quarter anymore and was eventually rested. That’s how efficiently he’d done his job.

So what can Dallas hope to accomplish in this game? Other than trying to avoid embarrassment by losing respectably not much really they can do. To put it simply, it’s going to be hard to find anybody that is going to pick against the Bronco’s winning this in this game. Broncos to win straight up is the smart play here hands down.

The question is however can the Cowboys avoid embarrassment and keep the score close to the seven-point spread? How? If they gave up 400 yards to Rivers and Eli Manning you’d think Peyton Manning would get a few hundred more than his counterparts did. This could turn into another Manning blowout and, if so, the Broncos to cover in a big way would be the best way to lean with your NFL picks.
