Week 2 NFL Preseason odds have gone to press so join us we deliberate over the entire bill of fare in search of value NFL picks.

Week 1 NFL Preseason Trends
In week 1 we learned that home teams were the value pick in straight up wins as well as on the spread, with hosts going 14-2 SU and 12-3-1 on the spread. We also learned that the “under” in totals betting proved profitable. So what will week 2 deliver? More of the same or will we see road teams compete better SU and on the spread and offenses crank it up a notch to push some of the totals over.

Here’s a look at some of the matchups that we believe are not only marquee matchups, but also represent bankable road teams in week 2 for your consideration on your NFL picks sheet.

The Marquee Games & Bankable Road Teams

Broncos vs. 49ers
Arguably, the marquee game on week 2’s slate is the clash between the Broncos and Niners. Denver will look to extend their winning form to two in a row when they descend on San Francisco, but curiously odds makers match them as the +3.0 (-105) underdogs on the spread. Denver got their revenge against Seattle in week 1 when they beat the Hawks 21-16 at home, a victory that should send them to the sunshine state on a wave of confidence. By contrast, the Niners barely struck an audible chord in Baltimore. Offense was simply MIA while defense non-existent in the 23-3 defeat.

It will be a ribbon-cutting game at the brand new Niners stadium. Fans will be expecting Colin Kaepernick and Company to rise to the occasion, deliver as the -3.0 (-115) favourites on the spread. But in order to do so they’ll need to come out firing at all cylinders. Basically do everything they didn’t do in Baltimore. Theoretically, this game could go either way as both sides, including their respective quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Colin Kaepernick, are extremely offensive-minded. For our money, we’re backing the Broncos to win on the road and cover. The value NFL pick here though must be the totals to go over 40 at -110.

Chargers vs. Seahawks
Seattle host San Diego Chargers in a game that most NFL bettors are cornering in the host’s camp, quite significantly even if the spread were any indication with Seattle opening around -5.5 favourites at -110. But there’s a lot to like about the Chargers this season, a side eager to build on their 9-7 season last term, which included a run of four straight wins towards the business end of the season, namely against the Broncos and Chiefs. Chargers are coming off a 27-7 victory over Dallas Cowboys, looking to make it two in a row. Certainly, they look good to keep it close, if not beat the Hawks altogether.

Free NFL Pick: Chargers at +5.5 -110 and Under 38.0

Chiefs vs. Panthers
Kansas City Chiefs were all offense in week 1, beating the Cincinnati Bengals 41-38 at home. They bring their high-octane offense to Carolina this week, against a Panthers outfit that visibly struggled on offense in their preseason opener against the Bills (lost 18-20). If those woes continue, the Chiefs should capitalise on the road, improving the number of road teams to win in week 2 with their contribution.

Free NFL Pick: Chiefs to win straight up; Over 39.0 -110

Eagles vs. Patriots
A Brady-less Patriots lost badly in the preseason opener against the Redskins on the road while Nick Foles and the Eagles were pushed around by the Bears in Chicago. In week 2 the pair collide, each looking for their first win on the preseason. Something is going to have to give when they kick-off on Friday.

Typically, Patriots are tough to beat at home when Brady is calling the plays. He is expected to feature this time around, although most likely in limited form, taking just a few reps; after all, the veteran quarterback is on the wrong side of 35, fast-pushing 40. It would be risqué to flirt with injury in the preseason where he’s concerned. Besides, the pressing mandate for the Patriots in preseason action is finding a successor: the rightful back-up quarterback.

The Eagles seem to have a battle between Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez on their hands for the starting quarterback role. Foles had a forgettable outing against the Bears last week, somewhat shockingly. Meanwhile, Jets’ cast off Sanchez proved his seasoned worth. With the battle heating up somewhat dramatically in Philadelphia between two respectable quarterbacks, the Eagles could prove tough to beat on the road all while the Patriots continue to search for an heir apparent.

Free NFL Pick: Eagles to win straight up; Over 46.5 -110 at 5Dimes sportbook
