Some NFL picks should be made as early as possible. As usual, the sharps were there at the open for Week 2, scooping up the Jets and the Buccaneers.

It might already be too late to add the New York Jets to your NFL betting picks for Week 2. They opened at +3 for Thursday night's road game (8:25 p.m. ET, CBS) against the Buffalo Bills, but right away, sharp bettors descended on that line and drove it down to +1.5. Our very early consensus reports showed 100 percent support for New York at the open; as we go to press, that unanimous consent has fallen to a 67-percent supermajority.

There's another team on our Week 2 NFL odds board that got 100 percent support right out of the gate, but in this case, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still available as 7-point road dogs for Sunday's matchup (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX) with the Arizona Cardinals. You'll have to pay –130 in juice, though, up from –120 at the open. Should we hop on either of these bandwagons before the lines move even further?

Kicking You All Over
We've been on the Jets, for the most part, ever since Ryan Fitzpatrick took over from Geno Smith as their starting quarterback. They were 10-6 SU and 8-6-2 ATS last year, with Fitzpatrick checking in at No. 14 on the DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) charts at Football Outsiders. Where's the shame in being a decent quarterback?

Unfortunately for the Jets, they dropped their 2016 season opener 23-22 to the Cincinnati Bengals (+1 away). It could have easily gone the other way; Mike Nugent kicked the game-winning field goal with under a minute remaining. New York couldn't quite get it done in the red zone, settling for field goals and giving Nugent the chance to be a hero. It happens. In the meantime, all this wailing and gnashing of teeth happening right now will make the Jets a better value pick down the road.

The Road To Wellville
As far as Week 2 is concerned, we definitely prefer the Buccaneers. They didn't quite get the job done last year at 6-10 SU and 7-9 ATS, but QB Jameis Winston (No. 16 in DVOA as a rookie) appears to be on the fast track to success after getting repeatedly red-flagged coming out of college. Winston and the Bucs got off on the good foot this year, beating the Atlanta Falcons 31-24 as 2.5-point road dogs.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, have to be a bit concerned after losing 23-21 to Jimmy Garoppolo and the New England Patriots (+9 away). Arizona has been a solid value pick with Carson Palmer at the controls – another under-appreciated quarterback who ended up at No. 1 on the 2015 DVOA charts. However, the Cards came up short in every facet of the game last Sunday. They're even bringing in players to try out for this week's tilt with Tampa Bay. We'd prefer to have those 10 cents back, but we're content to grab the Bucs before the sharps move them all the way off that magic number.
