2016 Football Selections on this site continue their solid start. Expert capper previews San Francisco 49ers vs. Carolina Panthers game as the lone ranger game of the week for NFL picks.

2016 Football Selections on this site continue their solid start. Through Wednesday, September 14th, NFL selections are 6-2 ATS, while College selections are 10-5 ATS. That is good for a combined mark of 16-7 ATS (70%) winners!  Although selections may not continue at that torrid pace throughout the season, I assure you that, if you follow the advice embedded in my analyses this season, you will have a better chance to succeed in the point spread wars. Always remember to shop for value and to use the valuable resources at this site to put every edge in your favor this football season.

Each week on these pages I will isolate a contrary NFL selection, which only you, I, and the LONE RANGER will pull the “Trigger”. This week, we focus on the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers. It is a scheduling situation and reversal of form which will have the public salivating to play Super Bowl participant Carolina.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Carolina Panthers
You see, the 49ers play with just 6 days rest and need to travel cross-country on short rest for a 10 AM body time start. They must face a Carolina team in their home opener who has had 10 days to prime themselves after losing 21-20 to Denver, making it back to back losses to the Broncos, including Super Bowl Sunday.

If Carolina Panther fans are looking for a precedent for this victory, consider that after the Panthers’ only regular season loss (20-13 at Atlanta on December 27th), they rebounded with a 38-10 smashing of Tampa Bay on this very field January 3rd.  It is a short leap for the public to fade this San Francisco team, who was 5-11 SU last season while averaging just 15 PPG.

But before you jump on that Carolina bandwagon, and the fact that Panther QB Newton is 15-6 ATS as home chalk the last 3 years, let’s consider the nature of that San Francisco victory.

The 49ers were coached last season by a not so ready for primetime Jim Tomsula. This year, the 49ers tried veteran HC Chip Kelly away from the Eagles and back to his time on the west coast where he succeeded as coach of the Oregon Ducks. The numbers in that victory over the LA Rams spoke volumes. San Francisco outgained the Rams 42/150 to 23/65 overland while holding the Rams to just 185 total yards. That is shades of Zimmer and the Vikings, who are “only” on a 25-9 ATS run using that same running game/defense methodology.

Final Analysis
The Panthers will not go quietly on the night this season, with even an opportunity to return to the Super Bowl. But at inflated prices such as this, there is plenty of room for a quickly improving underdog to slide in under the number.  I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me with my week 2 NFL prediction on the San Francisco 49ers.
