Now that they control their playoff destiny, the New York Jets have become the hot NFL pick for Sunday's season finale versus their AFC East rivals, the Buffalo Bills.

Everything is going according to plan. Our Super Bowl 50 outsiders, the New York Jets, are back in playoff position after beating the New England Patriots 26-20 in overtime. The Jets were our Best Value for Week 16 as 2.5-point home dogs on the closing line; they've won five straight games at 4-0-1 ATS to vault into the No. 6 seed in the AFC at 10-5 SU and a tasty 8-5-2 ATS.

Our heroes can stamp their tickets for the postseason by winning Sunday's season finale (1:00 p.m. ET) versus the Buffalo Bills, who are already eliminated from the race at 7-8 SU and 7-7-1 ATS. The Jets opened as 2.5-point road faves on our NFL odds, and our very early consensus reports show two-thirds of bettors on New York, supplying three-fourths of the action. Easy-peasy, right?

IK You Not
Rex Ryan would like to have a word with you about that. Ryan, of course, was head coach of the Jets from 2009 until last year, when he was given the boot – Tuesday is the one-year anniversary of Ryan's dismissal. It only took him two weeks to land a sweet long-term deal with the Bills, so no hard feelings. Right?

Let's take you back to Week 10. The Bills went to the New Meadowlands in Ryan's return as Buffalo's head coach; for the opening coin toss, Ryan named defensive end IK Enemkpali his team captain. Enemkpali was with the Jets until this August, when he punched QB Geno Smith in the jaw during training camp. Buffalo went on to win that game 22-17 as a 2.5-point puppy.

Solid Sunshine
The circumstances for Sunday's rematch are somewhat different. Aside from being eliminated, the Bills are also expected to sit RB LeSean McCoy (torn MCL), who rushed for 112 yards on 19 carries in their previous meeting. Buffalo has placed seven additional players on injured reserve since Week 10. The Jets go into Sunday's game relatively healthy, with divisional revenge on their minds as well as clinching a playoff spot.

The weather will be different, too. That warm spell that struck the East Coast for the holiday season is getting pushed aside; Sunday's forecast calls for a 40-percent chance of precipitation over Ralph Wilson Stadium, most likely in the form of snow with temperatures dipping below the freezing mark by kick-off. If you're thinking about betting the 43-point total for your NFL picks, you might want to wait until closer to game time for a more decisive forecast. Rain tends to help the UNDER cash in, while snow (in moderation) is better for the OVER. We'll be on the Jets ATS in the meantime.
