Here we look at early released week 16 NFL odds following the close of Sunday’s action and compare those to last week’s Advanced Lines from Westgate LV. Which line moves offer value?

Chargers vs. Raiders
Advanced Line (12/15): OAK -6
Opening Line (12/20):  OAK-5

So the Chargers haven’t thrown the towel in, winning 30-14 over the eliminated Miami Dolphins in week 15 NFL betting at home. Not that it’s changed odds makers’ perspective on the Chargers or their upcoming TNF clash with the Raiders. The game opened with the Raiders still considerably favored on Sunday despite their loss to the Packers in week 15. On the whole, very little separates the pair on the bottom line – the Chargers are 4-10 SU while the Raiders are 6-8 SU on the season. Earlier this term, the Raiders beat the Chargers at home and they’ll be looking to sweep the series over their AFC West pals. Home advantage lends itself to this outlook, plus the Raiders striking an altogether more convincing pose on the season. Still, it’s a tossup now that both sides are headed into postseason obscurity.

Redskins vs. Eagles
Advanced Line (12/15): PHI -4
Opening Line (12/20): PHI -4

The Redskins are putting forward their bid for the best in the NFC East after winning their second straight game in as many weeks at home over the Bills. Yet, the odds makers don’t seem to be buying into their bid. Installing the Redskins as the +4 road underdogs as Sunday’s odds went to press, marking no change from Advanced Lines from Westgate LV Superbook. That’s interesting considering the Eagles were just laid to waste by the Cardinals at home in a totally one-sided 40-17 loss on Sunday Night, which thrusts their playoff bid into serious doubt. Indeed, this game is to decide the NFC East potentially. The one thing that underscores this particular NFL betting outlook is the Redskins’ road record, which stands at a paltry 1-5 SU. That gives the Eagles the slight edge as they look to delay the NFC East decision until the last lap.

Niners vs. Lions
Advanced Line (12/15): DET -6.5
Opening Line (12/20): DET -8.5

Advanced Lines had this game on a hefty 6.5-point line. Now, it’s opened on a whopping 8.5-point line with the Lions to the good. Neither side cuts a flattering pose on the season, which smacks in the face of the generosity on the NFL odds board. How the 4-9 SU Lions are so favored even before their MNF clash with the Saints in week 15 is surprising. It speaks to the lack of favor towards the Niners more than anything else.

Steelers vs. Ravens
Advanced Line (12/15): NO LINE
Opening Line (12/20): PIT -9.5

The Steelers pushed forward in the playoff race with a come-from-behind win over the Denver Broncos in week 15. The Ravens, as expected, were mowed down by the rolling Kansas City Chiefs in week 15. Despite no line being available in Advanced servings, odds makers opened this game on a whopping 9.5-point spread with the road Steelers to the good. That line was quickly bet up to -11.5 at some sportsbooks, which just speaks volumes about how the public views the Steelers right now.

Texans vs. Titans
Advanced Line (12/15): NO LINE
Opening Line (12/20): NO LINE

There was no line on the NFL odds board last week as Brian Hoyer was still in concussion protocol. He didn’t pass and TJ Yates got the start against the Colts but suffered a knee injury in the 16-10 victory. On the other side of the coin, Marcus Mariota was injured during the Patriots game. Given the quarterback quandary, odds makers are holding off with the NFL line on this game...

Colts vs. Dolphins
Advanced Line (12/15): NO LINE
Opening Line (12/20): NO LINE

The quarterback position in Indianapolis hits another wrinkle this week with Matt Hasselbeck enjoying a forgettable outing against the Texans. There’s no doubt the Colts need Andrew Luck back ASAP as they are still, surprisingly, in the playoff hunt. Whether he’s fit to start this game remains to be seen. No Line is expected until official word is received about the starter here.

Patriots vs. Jets
Advanced Line (12/15): NE -3
Opening Line (12/20): NE -3

The Patriots traipsed to a relatively comfortable win over the Titans on Sunday, winning 33-16 at home. The Jets came from behind to edge the ineffective Cowboys 19-16 thanks to a last gasp field goal. As expected, there’s no change in the NFL line for this game and early NFL betting hasn’t made an impact either way with the line holding strong on three points since opening on Sunday.

Cowboys vs. Bills
Advanced Line (12/15): BUF -5
Opening Line (12/20): BUF -6

Dallas’ season headed South in week 2 following Tony Romo’s injury and it never quite got back on course. Buffalo’s season took a turn South following a loss to the Eagles in week 14. Things went from bad to worse in week 15 with a 35-25 loss in the nation’s capital. Nevertheless, the Bills reopened as the -6 home chalk, up by a point from Advanced Lines. That’s all to do with the quarterback quandary in Dallas as Matt Cassel was yanked from the game. With no viable quarterback to turn to it’s no wonder the Bills are favored by two scores.

Panthers vs. Falcons
Advanced Line (12/15): CAR -6.5
Opening Line (12/20): CAR -7

The Panthers rallied to stem a late push by the Giants and win a right thriller in week 15, thereby maintaining their stellar start to the season. The Falcons bounced back with a win over the Jaguars, snapping their horrendous negative trend that began way back in week 6. Nevertheless, the Falcons are at the huge disadvantage on the NFL odds board when they welcome their NFC South masters.

Browns vs. Chiefs
Advanced Line (12/15): KC -11.5
Opening Line (12/20): KC -14

Advanced servings had the Chiefs matched as the whopping 11.5-point home chalk. As the Chiefs continued to roll through week 15, improving their winning streak to eight games in a row, they emerged quite fittingly as the two-touchdown favorites over the done-and-done Browns.

Bears vs. Bucs
Advanced Line (12/15): TB -3
Opening Line (12/20): TB -2.5

Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed to live up to the pressure of the spotlight on Thursday Night Football as they lost to the Rams 31-23. The Bears were awful in a 38-17 loss to the Vikings on the road. The upshot of which was a small reduction on the NFL odds board with the Bucs opening as the 2.5-point home chalk, down by half-a-point. Early NFL betting quickly brought that line back up to 3-points though, where it currently sits which indicates that the public is all over the Bucs on their NFL picks at the moment.

Jaguars vs. Saints
Advanced Line (12/15): NO -4
Opening Line (12/20): NO LINE

The Saints are yet to complete MNF against the Lions. As such, there is no line currently trading on this game. However, if they come through with a win over the Lions at the Superdome, one imagines the NFL betting line will reopen on a similar mark.

Rams vs. Seahawks
Advanced Line (12/15): SEA -14
Opening Line (12/20): SEA -15

The Rams are showing some spark down the stretch, winning two games in row. Case Keenum is taking advantage of this opportunity to showcase his wares for potential roles with other teams should the Rams let him go by season end. The Seahawks present his toughest challenge yet and are sure to test his mettle. Not surprisingly, with the Seahawks rolling behind a five-game winning streak, their NFL odds swelled to 15-points at early doors. Interestingly, however, the Seahawks have come down a bit from their lofty heights, all the way to 13-points at some sportsbooks. Early consensus betting shows that the public is betting the Rams but sharps are betting the Seahawks, causing this reverse line movement.

Packers vs. Cardinals
Advanced Line (12/15): ARI -4.5
Opening Line (12/20): ARI -4.5

The Cardinals continue to roll and after a convincing 40-10 win over the Eagles on Sunday Night Football, it’s no wonder they remained the 4.5-point home chalk for their highly anticipated clash with the Packers. Green Bay are after a 30-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday, but Oakland is hardly a signature team. The Packers haven’t been overly convincing on the road, which makes this a rather appropriate NFL betting outlook. For the most part, the NFL betting lines haven’t changed since early doors as the betting is split down the middle on this game.

Giants vs. Vikings
Advanced Line (12/15): MIN -3
Opening Line (12/20): NO LINE

The Giants came very close to orchestrating one of the biggest upsets of the season. The Giants came back from a 35-7 deficit to tie the game 35-35, tying the biggest comeback when the 1980 49ers erased a 28-point deficit to the Saints. Alas, they lost the game on a last gasp field goal by the Panthers. The Vikings are holding on to their playoff spot, largely down to 38-17 win over the Bears. The Line is currently off the board as Adrian Peterson’s ankle injury is assessed. It remains to be seen whether the team’s talisman returns for the weekend clash with the Giants, in what is sure to be a season defining game for both teams.

Bengals vs. Broncos
Advanced Line (12/15): DEN -4.5
Opening Line (12/20): DEN -3.5

The Denver Broncos succumbed to a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 15 NFL betting, marking Brock Osweiler’s second loss in five starts. It was a stunning second-half collapse to the Steelers as the Broncos, who led for the first half, lost 34-27. It’s uncertain yet whether Peyton Manning will start on Sunday or whether Osweiler will see his sixth start on the season. The Bengals are in a similar spot without Andy Dalton. Despite the quarterback controversy, the game opened on a 3.5-point line on Sunday with the Broncos down by just half a point. It hasn’t moved off that mark as early NFL betting came down the wire, suggesting some parity in NFL picks on both sides of the coin.
