We hotfoot over to week 16's NFL betting board and look at some of the early lines and odds currently trading and serve up some early betting strategies.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers -3.0
Kansas City Chiefs just snapped a three-game losing streak with a payback win over the Oakland Raiders at home, coming through for their backers for the first time in four weeks in straight up betting and against the spread. Returning to winning form augurs well for the Chiefs ahead of this week 16 clash with the Steelers, not to mention it puts them back in the running for a playoff spot, a fortuitous turn helped along by the Chargers' defeat to the Broncos in the same week.

Steelers are after back-to-back wins, improving to four wins in their last six games. They beat the Bengals 42-21 and the Falcons 27-20 over a two-game road stretch that saw them also cover against the spread each time. They return home looking to extend that winning streak to three straight games and challenge the Bengals for top spot in the AFC North.  Overall, they are 7-7 ATS this season, 3-3 ATS at home with a 6.8-point margin of victory.

Momentum and form tips the scale towards the Steelers at home as the nominal 3-point favorites. When the Steelers are on a roll, it takes a shootout to beat them, which makes this a rather low spread in our NFL odds that bettors should pounce on. The Chiefs can make a game of it. But if the Steelers runaway with it, the Chiefs. will be hard pressed to keep up especially since they haven't beaten a quality team on the road since beating the Chargers on the road in mid-October.

Indianapolis Colts +3.0 over Dallas Cowboys
The Colts and Cowboys collide in week 16 NFL betting in a game delicately nestled on a field goal line with the Colts as the 3-point road underdogs. They are after four straight wins ahead of week 16 and clinching the AFC South title. Overall, the Colts are 9-4-1 ATS this season with a 7.6-point margin of victory, second to the Cardinals only (10-4-0), which you should consider when placing your NFL pick.

On the road the Colts aren't infallible on 4-2 SU and ATS mark but with a 4.2-point margin of victory that falls in line with the market on this clash, the Colts strike an attractive pose on the NFL betting board.

Dallas Cowboys moved to the top of the NFC East standings with a 10-4 SU record after clinching the pivotal win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. It's worth noting that the Cowboys are only 3-4 SU at home. Their divisional lead is largely built on road form that is an impeccable 7-0 SU ahead of week 16 NFL betting. Against the spread, the Cowboys are 2-5 ATS at home with a 2-point margin of defeat.

Home advantage typically is an edge home teams look forward to capitalising on. In the case of the Cowboys, it's clearly not an advantage. With the lethal Colts offense that can put up points in a hurry coming to the AT&T Stadium, that less than convincing home form could prove deciding.
