As week 16 NFL betting gets underway, we look at the early NFL odds in search of the best straight ups bets, as well as the best bets against the spread an on total betting.

Best SU Bet: New England Patriots To Win SU
New England Patriots boast a league-leading 11 wins this season, a mark shared with the Denver Broncos only. Currently, the Patriots are riding a two-game winning streak behind wins over the Chargers (road) and the Dolphins (home). They beat the Chargers 23-14 in San Diego, bouncing back from a narrow 26-21 loss to the Packers at Lambeau. Last weekend, they thrashed the Dolphins 41-13 at the Foxboro, to extend their home winning form to a perfect 7-0 on the season. Patriots clearly have the momentum and confidence going into week 16's clash with the New York Jets. What's more, they have the added boost of a win over the Jets from earlier this season.

Patriots may just be 4-3 SU on the road, but none of their losses have coming to losing teams such as the Jets are. The Jets are only 3-11 SU on the season. Hardly the sort of team that one would spot on their NFL picks for the improbable upset. Not least, they are 2-5 SU and ATS with a 5.6-point margin of defeat at home.

NFL Picks: Patriots SU

Best ATS: Broncos -3.0 over Bengals
The Broncos are riding high atop the AFC West division with an 11-3 SU record, which includes a 5-0 SU divisional record and a 9-1 SU record in the AFC Conference. The only team that clinched a win at the expense of Denver in the AFC was New England. Against the spread, the Broncos are just a modest 7-7 this season but it includes a 7.4-point margin of victory. On the road, they are a so-so 4-3 ATS on the road with a 2.9-point margin of victory but they won and covered their last two road games: 29-16 over the Chiefs as a nominal 1-point road favorite and 22-10 over the Chargers as the 4.5-point road favorites.

Bengals are coming off a statement-making 30-0 win over the Browns. But cashing on the NFL betting floor at the expense of the modest Browns is one thing, to do so at the expense of the Broncos is another. Bengals lost their last two home games: 42-21 against the Steelers as the 3-point home faves and 24-3 against the Browns as the staggering 6.5-point home chalk. Overall, Bengals are 4-2-1 SU and 3-3-1 ATS at home  with a 1.6-point margin of victory on average.#

Best Total Bet: Colts and Cowboys to go OVER 55.0
By all accounts, this game is shaping up to be a shootout on week 16's NFL odds board as it's set to a high 55-point total. Colts offense moves at a fast click and can put up points in a hurry. They have scored 424-points through 14 games this season for an average of 30.1-points per game. Cowboys offense is no slouch either with 381-points through 14 games for an average of 27.2-points per game. The last two games saw the Cowboys post 79-points, for an average of almost 40-points per game. Underlining the notion of a scoring fest between these two teams is their modest defenses that can allow a few points more than they should: Colts defense can leak 22.6-points per game and Cowboys defense leaks 23.4-points per game.
