Analysis: The benching of RGIII has been discussed ad nauseam this week so we won’t waste too much of your precious time on it, suffice it to say it really makes no difference as far as the Redskins’ season goes, which is done and done. Kirk Cousins is so-so. Some would have him as a glorified Tim Tebow – is that good or bad? Will it make a difference to the bottom line in sports betting circles? You decide.
As far as this matchup goes, very little separates Redskins and Falcons on paper where their account on the 2013-2014 season is concerned – Redskins are 3-10 (1-5 away) while the Falcons are 3-10 (2-4 home). At face value, this does seem to be a rather hefty spread for the Atlanta Falcons to cover given their season but all things being considered it might be just right. They have home ground advantage and they are slightly better than the Falcons overall. What’s more defense rather than quarterback will be the deciding factor in our opinion. It’s no secret Redskins’ defense is bad, almost non-existent, ranking somewhere in the basement of NFL rankings allowing an average of 30 points plus per game.

Analysis: Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9, 1-5 home) have made significant strides in recent weeks, even against the NFL odds winning four of their last five games, which beg the question whether they were just flukes. The same team that burst out of the gates on eight straight defeats, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, turns things around so significantly. How is that so? Some would have them only as good as their schedule and they’ve had a tough schedule to start the season on, no question about it. But with recent weeks seeing them come up against beatable sides such as Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, they come up smelling roses. More likely than not they’ll carry that momentum at the expense of the Buffalo Bills (4-9, 1-5 away), who have stuttered throughout the season and are, most recently, after back-to-back defeats to Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay and they are 1-4 ATS in their last five games.
NFL Picks: Jaguars to cover
Analysis: Houston Texans just fired their coach, a happenstance that in sports can on occasion prove to be a catalyst for improved results in subsequent games/contests. There is something about change in the air that can rejuvenate a player or team alike; in this case, the Houston Texans who are in desperate need of some sort of renaissance, at least something to take into the offseason to build upon for next year. Of course, this doesn’t mean that we are flat out recommending the Texans as an NFL pick to win straight up against the Colts on the road, tempting though it is at +190 at Bet365. But we could see a more positive effort by the Texans against a Colts side that offers some wiggle room with 2-3 mark against the spread in their last five games/
