With Monday's clash with the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field we wraped up week 14 NFL betting. We round up all the previous action, in this NFL week 14 betting recap and verdict.

NFL Week 14 Betting Recap
Favourites went 10-5 SU in week 14 but only 8-7 ATS. Home teams fell 5-10 SU and ATS to away teams while the over-under went 5-10 by the conclusion of Sunday Night Primetime Football.

Overall NFL Betting Update
Through 14 weeks of NFL betting, the favourites are 135-69-1 against underdogs in SU betting and 100-99-4 in ATS betting. Home teams have gone 115-87-1 SU and 101-99-3 ATS while over-under betting sits at 100-102-3.

Underdogs Hold Value
The biggest surprise of the week's round of action is Panthers beating the Saints at the Superdome 41-10, a curveball few NFL bettors could have predicted. Then again, the NFC South continues to flummox all and sundry by its grossly underachieving field. Panthers proved one of the biggest underdogs to cash behind the win, coming through as the 9-point underdogs.(up from opening on 8.5-points).

Raiders' win over the Niners is a close second in terms of big surprises on the week, depending on your perspective (a Niners' loyalist or hater). Niners succumbed to a 24-13 loss to the Raiders all while installed as the 9-point road chalk, up from 7-points in early NFL odds betting markets. The loss thrusts the Niners' playoff bid into serious jeopardy.

The biggest underdog to come through with a cover was Buffalo (+9.5). The Bills trailed by 14-points late in the final quarter before a last drive touchdown saw them snatch the cover behind a 24-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Bills opened as the 10-point road underdogs before being bet down to 9.5-points, or thereabouts depending on your choice cyber shop.

Both Ravens and Steelers not only closed as the 3-point road dogs in their respective games against Dolphins and Bengals but also cashed on the NFL betting floor. Ravens beat the Dolphins 27-13 while the Steelers steamrolled the Bengals 44-21.

Although the Cardinals opened as the 2.5-point home chalk they closed as the 2.5-point home underdogs. Nevertheless, they covered for their backers in a 17-14 win over the Chiefs. Finally, the Seahawks, peaking at the right time, beat the Eagles 24-14 to cover as the 2-point road favourites. In early betting markets, Seattle were matched as the 1-point road dogs.

Favourites Punching At Their Weight Class
Dallas Cowboys kicked off week 14 NFL betting with a pivotal 41-28 win over the struggling Chicago Bears, proving their worth as the 4-point road faves.

Road favourites continued to dominate through early Sunday games with the Texans, Colts and Rams winning outright. Both the Texans and Rams covered in their respective wins over the Jaguars and Redskins. Texans opened as 4-point road faves before leaping to 6.5-points by closing doors. Similarly, the Rams opened as nominal 1-point favourites before closing at 3-points. Only the Colts, who were the biggest road favourites at -500 NFL odds on Sunday's morning slate, failed to cover as the 3-point favourites after rallying to the 25-24 win.

Home favourites Lions and Vikings both cashed SU and against the spread in their week 14 dates. Lions defeated the Bucs 34-17 to cash as the 10.5-point favourites, marking the biggest favourites to payout for NFL bettors. Vikings(-4.5) snatched the win and cover behind an overtime 30-24 win.

Finally, New England Patriots bounced back with a pivotal 23-14 win over the San Diego Chargers, cashing as the -180 road favourites and 4-point road chalk.

Total Outlook
The under enjoyed a strong turnout on this week 14 NFL picks after 10 games went under market expectations, including three of the seven games set to totals higher than 45-points. Broncos and Bills settled well under the 47.5-point total, as did the Seahawks and Eagles (48-points at closing doors). Meanwhile, the Patriots and Chargers, who opened on a 50-point total before jumping as high as 54-points, also fell under those expectations.

Steelers almost accounted for the 47-point total with their 42points while the Panthers made up most the 49.5-point total in their 41-point deposit. Same goes for the Cowboys, who hung 41-points on the Bears.

The 24-0 score between Rams and Redskins proved the lowest scoring game on the board. It also marked the second straight week in which the Rams held opponents off the scoreboard.
