The Dallas Cowboys have waited for a long time to get back on the playing field after that controversial call against Green Bay. How will this matchup fare & what's our NFL pick?
Jerry Jones doesn’t appear to consider it a major loss, but losing DeMarco Murray is losing 1863 yards rushing with 12 TD’s. Murray was a major part of the Cowboys offense last season and this season the Cowboys have acquired Darren McFadden. While McFadden has had a tough time on a poor team such as the Raiders, this is a major drop in talent and Tony Romo will feel less protection.
Dez Bryant was paid a lot of money. This is his time to put up or shut up and for the most part, he’s been a key asset for the Cowboys. I definitely can sense a Bryant vs. Beckham Jr. matchup in this game as Odell Beckham Jr. has proven that he has the potential to be on “Mt. Rushmore” with Jerry Rice.
Dallas did take some major risks in the NFL Draft, drafting players such as Randy Gregory with tons of talent, but tons of baggage. We’ll have to see how these risks are incorporated on both sides of the football. For now, expect a competitive Dallas team that will be in the spotlight at home on Sunday Night Football.
The Newman Connection
When you talk about the Newman Connection, you’re talking about Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. Both of these players have played at Newman High School in Louisiana and have had a superb connection in the pros.
Last season, Manning threw for 4410 yards with 30 TD and 14 INT while Beckham Jr. caught 91 passes for 1305 yards, 12 TD’s and possibly the greatest catch in NFL history. He did this in limited times and we should see his numbers skyrocket, barring injury.
Along with ODB, the G-Men picked up Shane Vereen from the Pats as they have a deep rushing attack featuring Rashad Jennings.
