Minnesota was cruising along until recently, and now they've fallen to 8-4. On Thursday, they face the 10-2 Cardinals. Let's analyze the NFL odds in this betting preview.
Opening Odds & Line Movement
Open: -7.5 +111 at Pinnacle
The NFL odds for this Thursday night game opened at -7.5 for the Cardinals at home and that is where it has stayed so far. The Vikings have dropped two big games recently, first to Green Bay and then to Seattle, both at home. The 38-7 loss to the Seahawks was a game that could break a team as the Vikings got behind and never recovered. The Cardinals never got out of third gear in a 27-3 rout of St. Louis on the road, and for all the talk of Cam Newton and Tom Brady for MVP, Carson Palmer is quietly putting together an excellent season. That isn't good news for a Minnesota team that just allowed 273 yards and three touchdowns to Russell Wilson. The Cardinals are also fourth in the league against the run, and Minnesota RB Adrian Peterson complained that he only got eight carries against the Seahawks. If the Vikings can't run the ball and then get behind, they're in trouble.

Vikings vs. Cardinals Money Line
The Vikings are having injury issues on defense as FS Antone Exum has broken ribs and is out for a couple weeks. Fellow FS Harrison Smith had to leave the Seattle game because of his hamstring, while LB Anthony Barr aggravated a groin injury. DT Linval Joseph didn't even play because of a foot injury, and the Vikings have to plug those holes quickly.
The Cardinals lost TE Jermaine Gresham to a knee injury against the Rams, and he is questionable. The same goes for RB Stepfan Taylor, who hurt his shoulder and is day-to-day.
Minnesota has covered the spread in nine of their 12 games this season, including five of six on the road. The Cardinals are 7-5 ATS overall and 2-3 ATS at home. The total has moved up from 45 to 46, and the Cardinals have gone over eight times. Minnesota has gone under eight times, along with two pushes.
The Vikings are 8-2 SU (three wins in a row) and 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Cardinals. The two have played seven games in Arizona, with the Cardinals going 3-4 SU and ATS.
