It’s that time of the week again! So far this season we have hit two of our four parlays, giving us a nice five to 6 unit bankroll to start the season. This week’s NFL Odds are great for another parlay, and you should add this to your NFL Picks for extra value.

Spread Play
Tonight’s spread play is a little tricky, and a lot of the value depends on young Teddy Bridgewater’s ankle. Bridgewater injured his ankle late in his first career start last week, a win against the Atlanta Falcons. On short rest this week, and against a divisional opponent, you know that the Vikings desperately need their young quarterback to play. Even though there are reports out that Bridgewater is leaning towards playing, either way he probably isn’t 100% right now on short rest. However unless he can’t go at all, the Vikings might not be as bad of a play as some are projecting tonight.

If Bridgewater plays, he gives the Vikings’ offense another dimension, one that the Packers’ defense is going to have trouble stopping. Neither team has a great defense, but on short rest you never know what could happen. There is also a real possibility that the Vikings were overplaying his injury a little bit. He practiced in a limited fashion for the first time yesterday, and if he can run around and stretch plays for the Vikings, Minnesota could hang in their with their athletic group of skill players on the outside.

The Packers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four home games as favorites of -3 ½ to -10, and tonight as long as Bridgewater is starting, I think Bovada’s NFL Odds of +9 Vikings is a steal.

Total Play
The total NFL betting lines from Bovada for this game are just as valuable as the spread. At 48 points, this is a very high total for a Thursday night. Over the last four weeks, scores have been a mixed bag, but as we get further into the season, I think we’ll start to see scores going down. 48 points even between two offenses with great upside might still be too much, especially if Bridgewater does not play. I think he will however, but I doubt he or the Packers have big nights offensively.

Last week the Packers had a huge day on offense, finally breaking out of their strange early-season slump, however on short rest you can’t tell who is going to play well, and who won’t show up. Last season the under cashed in four of their five October games, and I see that trend continuing into October 2014.

Dating back slightly into last season, the under has now cashed in four of the Vikings’ last five games, and I see it happening again tonight. These NFL Odds for this total opened much higher than 48 points. Some sportsbooks even had it at 50 at one point earlier this week. It has since been bet down, but I don’t think it’s low enough. There is still value out there for tonight’s game, and while other sportsbooks have the line at a much more reasonable clip, Bovada is giving us an opportunity to add some early-week value to our NFL Picks. Plus, a Free Pick adds even more value, so you’re welcome.

My NFL Pick: Two Team Parlay: Vikings +9 & UNDER 48 from Bovada.
