We are leaving behind the first week of NFL betting. But let’s see what we have in store for the NFL odds for Week 2.

2015 Season Record (3-1 ATS)
Last week we clicked with St. Louis, Green Bay and San Diego but the total on the Titans/Bucs game sunk us as we went under and the score sailed over. It's a good start to the season and we hope to keep the cash comin' in our NFL picks for Week 2.

Week 2 NFL Picks
Earlier this week I perused the NFL odds and came up with a pair of sides that spoke to me like Kate Upton whispering in my ear. Well in this case the teams resemble more Caitlyn Jenner and less Kate Upton as my early week selections just happen to be the Jets and Redskins.

Without further ado let us take a look at my final two NFL picks of Week 2 and make some money.

Houston Texans vs Carolina Panthers
Houston had the misfortune of taking on the Chiefs in Week 1 and making plenty of mistakes in the process. When the dust settled starting quarterback Brian Hoyer had given way to Ryan Mallet and the Texans found themselves on the losing end of a 27-20 final score.

Meanwhile the Panthers were kicking around the lowly Jaguars to the tune of a 20-9 score and covering the NFL odds as 3 ½ point travelin' favorites. But now the two teams will meet in Carolina and the NFL odds makers have made the Panthers three-point home chalk. If you watched that game you would recognize that the Panthers scored 14 of those 21 points on offense while the third TD came courtesy of a pick-six return. It was not an overwhelming offensive display against one of the worst teams in the league.

Therefore, it begs the question

hat if the Panthers could muster only two scores against the Jags what will they be able to do against the J.J. Watt led Texan's defense? I realize Houston looked far from invincible in Week 1 but this week they will be playing a less talented Panthers' team with little to work with on both sides of the ball. In addition, Ryan Mallet will lead the Texans' offense and will be playing for his professional life. If Mallet, now in his fifth year, can't make good on this opportunity to start in the NFL he may be relegated to backup status for as long as he manages to hang around the league.

The bottom line to this game is the following:

- Houston's defense is much better than they demonstrated in Week 1.

- Carolina is a one weapon offense with Cam Newton being it.

- Ryan Mallet has more tools to work with and has something to prove.

- Houston cannot afford an 0-2 start and will clean up mistakes from Week 1.

NFL Pick: Houston +3 ½ (-125) at 5Dimes

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Tony Romo will not have Dez Bryant at his disposal for this or any other game this season but he will have time to read a book and order coffee behind his immovable offensive line against a suspect Eagles' pass rush. Philadelphia is built around Chip Kelly's high-octane offense and defense is almost an afterthought.

The Cowboys will score plenty of points and the Eagles will do the same. I actually like the Cowboys plus the points but this could be a game where both teams are trading touchdowns with the last team to score winning by...a touchdown of course! The problem is it could be either team with that last possession which is why I am riding the total.

NFL Pick: Over 55 at Pinnacle

The Woodman's Corner (1-0 ATS)
The Woodman is back after a champagne summer of supermodels and lobster brunches. But it tis the season and he's forsaken his Speedos for overalls and is back doing what he does best - pickin' winners. In Week 1 he cashed with the Bengals and here in Week 2 he says, "How 'bout them Cowboys?!"
The Woodman's official Week 2 pick is the Dallas Cowboys +5 ½.
