Is it too early to jump back on the San Francisco 49ers bandwagon? Maybe, but the Niners might have just enough betting value to put them in our Week 2 NFL picks.

Jason's 2015 record as of Sept. 19: 5-3 ATS; 3-2 Total

It's always more fun to bet on the big prime-time NFL games – and lucrative, too, with all those recreational bettors in the marketplace. But if you enjoy money, there are plenty of other opportunities to get your football on. We nailed both our NFL picks for the first Sunday Betting Ticket of 2015, cashing in on the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. Let's see what's on the menu for Week 2.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (1:00 p.m. ET, FOX)
We're as flabbergasted as you are. Not only did the Niners not get destroyed by the Minnesota Vikings last week, they even dominated the game, winning 20-3 as 2.5-point home dogs. How many bugs do I have to eat? Jeeves, go round up some chapulines for dinner, would you? Maybe a stir fry with some bee pollen mixed in there. And a nice chianti.

One game is a small sample size, but the Niners played well enough to check in at No. 7 on the Week 1 DVOA charts at Football Outsiders. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, is coming off that 28-21 loss to the New England Patriots (–7.5 at home), where Antonio Brown's last-minute touchdown earned the Steelers the matador cover – or did it? The Steelers ranked No. 21 overall in DVOA, including No. 28 on defense and special teams.

We're still not convinced that San Francisco has things figured out, but we can't pretend like Week 1 never happened. At press time, the Niners are 6.5-point road dogs for Sunday's matchup and threatening to hit +7 NFL odds. Given Pittsburgh's issues on the offensive line and kicking field goals, it's well worth a shot.

NFL Pick: Take the 49ers +6.5 ( o –105) at Bookmaker

Arizona Cardinals vs. Chicago Bears (1:00 p.m. ET, FOX)
Might as well double down on the Cardinals. They were our preferred candidate out of all the teams that fit our Week 2 betting trend, where since 2009 inclusive, teams who covered in Week 1 are 26-22-1 ATS against teams who didn't. The Cards are 29-13-4 ATS under head coach Bruce Arians, and they ranked No. 3 in DVOA last week, with Carson Palmer enjoying the second-best performance (201 Total DYAR) of any Week 1 quarterback aside from Tom Brady.

We keep thinking the Bears are going to wake up, but last week's 31-23 loss to the Green Bay Packers (–6 away) wasn't very encouraging. They did keep the game close into the fourth quarter, at least. It was still a poor effort from Jay Cutler (–19 DYAR) and an even worse performance from Chicago's defense, leaving the Bears ranked No. 26 overall in efficiency. Early bettors jumped on Arizona right away in this matchup, and we're happy to join them before the public catches on.

NFL Pick: Take the Cardinals –1.5 (–105) at Pinnacle
