On New Year's Eve we have a full regalia of NFL action with 16 games. Some will be meaningful, some will matter to just one team and the rest will be forgotten as soon as they are completed.

In any event, this is our last chance to really study the NFL odds with a full slate and end the regular season on a positive note.

Speaking of positive, what about last week's results here for NFL picks on totals? A perfect 3-0 sweep, raising record to 28-16-1, 63.6 percent.

Let's get in the trenches one more time and make some money!

Get Ready for Battle in Atlanta

Free NFL Pick: Under 45Best Line Offered: at Heritage

There is a lot on the line for Carolina and Atlanta conflict. The Falcons are back in the postseason with a victory and very likely out if they falter. The Panthers will at least be a wild card team and with a triumph and good fortune, they might even have a home playoff game next weekend. This leads me to believe defense and careful football will rule the day. Atlanta's offense has not been the same as last year and they are 11-2 UNDER after two or more losses against the spread and 8-0 UNDER off four or more consecutive Under's. With the total at 45, I found the Panthers average score is 42 total points in away games and just below 40 points in NFC South confrontations.

Bills and Dolphins Find The End Zone

Free NFL Pick: Play Over 42.5Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Buffalo is a long shot to make the AFC playoffs, but they still have a chance with a victory. For this to happen, the Bills will need to score more than season average of 18.7 points per game. Miami as it turns out is actually worse when to comes to putting up points, at one full point lower. However, when they are at home, the Dolphins are more effective when it comes to scoring and this season they are 25.5 PPG in South Florida. With the total at 42.5, one should not overlook the Fins are 11-3 OVER at home the last two years and 9-0 OVER in same building when coming in off a road contest.

Meaningless Redskins vs. Giants Should Feature Limited Scoring

Free NFL Pick: Play Under (40)Best Line Offered: at Heritage

One week after scoring 29 points on a good Philadelphia defense, the New York Giants left Arizona with a goose egg on the scoreboard next to their name. Washington's defense has been part lucky and good in holding past two foes to 26 total points and they have played three straight UNDER's. For my money, this sure looks like a lower scoring affair, but seeing it could the last time Eli Manning and Kirk Cousins face each other as rivals with these squads, the possibility exists of surpassing total of 40. Nonetheless, with two scuffling offenses and these squads having gone below the oddsmakers total in three of last four outings, I will back the UNDER.
