As is the case in sports betting and life, sometimes you are the windshield and other times you are the bug. Last week I was the bug, as the betting gods put out a stop sign on my total picks.

I was wiped out last week and that will happen. Nevertheless, for NFL picks, if you told me I would be 23-15-1 ATS going into Week 15, I would take that every single season.

When breaking down the NFL odds, here are this week's Sunday selections.

Minnesota Limits Sinking Cincinnati

After an all-out effort Monday night against Pittsburgh and still coming up short, Cincinnati fans probably wanted a refund after the Bengals were a no-show in an ugly home whipping by Chicago. With no playoffs and Marvin Lewis probably done as Cincinnati's head coach, the Bengals are not likely to find many points against the NFL's No. 3 scoring defense. Plus, Minnesota is even better at home, ranked first and conceding just 13.8 PPG. Coming off a loss to Carolina and having Green Bay on deck, I am not sure we will see Minnesota's A game. With Cincy 13-3 under off an upset loss by 10 points or more as a home favorite, let's back the lower score.

Rested New Orleans Lights Up Jets Defense

Free NFL Pick: Over 47.5Best Line Offered: At Heritage

In this nonconference clash between the New York Jets and New Orleans, oddsmakers made a total of 47 and those betting football elevated it to 47.5. The Saints lost at Atlanta on December 7 and should be refreshed with the extra time off and playing at home. For this contest the over appears more attractive, and the case is made just following the numbers. New Orleans is a monstrous 16-point favorite over the Flyboys. If the oddmakers are accurate, that would make the Saints either 32-15 or 32-16 winners. Since last year New Orleans is 14-1 over when they score 28 or more points.

Rams and Seahawks Defenses Control the Rematch

First place is on the line in the NFC West with L.A. North visiting Coffee Town. In the previous meeting, the Rams had a 375-241 yardage edge but scored only 10 points thanks to five turnovers. The yards or points might not come easy this time, either, even if the Seattle secondary has been thinned by injury. Just two weeks ago the same Seahawks defense limited Philadelphia's then-top-scoring offense to 10 points, and with the chance to take over the lead in the division they should be even more ready to play. Los Angeles defensive players know Russell Wilson is the Seahawks offense. Over time the Rams have enjoyed success in limiting the quarterback, and these combatants are 9-2 under, which includes the past four contests.
