This is the last week of byes for this NFL season and starting next week we resume with the full regalia of games. Fortunately, having fewer choices has not hurt us when it comes to making selections.

After another winning week for NFL picks, we have moved out to 18-7-1, 72%, against the oddsmakers releases on totals. Obviously, your humble handicapper is pleased with the results and so are readers that are playing at some the A-rated sportsbooks that are showcased here.

After going over the NFL odds like a Washington Post reporter, here are this week's choices.

Chiefs on Warpath Against Sliding Giants (Lack of) Defense

After finishing 4th in points allowed in 2016, the New York Giants defense is part of the issue why this team is having such an abysmal 1-8 campaign. The G-Men are all the way down to 28th in permitting 26.4 points a game and there effort could be charitably described as non-caring. In particular, the Giants defenders are giving numerous big plays. With Kansas City having game-breakers like Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt, and Travis Kelce, the total of 45 would seem in jeopardy. Though the Giants offense is baneful, the Chiefs are still conceding 23.1 PPG, which leads to OVER play.

Redskins and Saints Sounds Like Points O'Plenty

For this total, just going to follow where the evidence leads. Washington's defensive woes are partly because of injuries to all three levels of their defense and they have surrendered 29 or more points in four of their past six contests. New Orleans has been cruising during their seven-game winning streak and Drew Brees and the Saints offense has found another gear in recent games and averaged 35 PPG in their past five outings. This has helped push the total from 49 to 51. Off their loss to Minnesota, Washington is 9-1 OVER after one or more defeats and New Orleans is 6-0 OVER after six or more consecutive wins against the spread.

Free NFL Pick: Over 51Best Line Offered: Bookmaker

Bumbling Bengals and Broncos in Low Scoring Skirmish

Thankfully, the editors have a max word count, as I could write a full chapter on what is wrong with Cincinnati and Denver this season offensively. The shorter version is the Bengals have the worst offensive line in the NFL, which means no running game and QB Andy Dalton just has to throw most of the time which is not his strong suit. The Broncos have three guys that have quarterback numbers and they can take snaps, one problem, none of them are any good. Though the Denver defense has shown poorly of late, it is still a solid defense and the Cincy stop troops are good as well. For more proof, when home teams like the Broncos are giving up 14 or more PPG in the first half and are off three straight losses by 10 or more points, they are 23-6 UNDER in next outing.

Free NFL Pick: Under 39Best Line Offered: BetDSI
