Super Bowl props are always very creative, and the sportsbooks have not disappointed us for Super Bowl 56. Who will the MVP thank first, what color of Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach, and what will the result of the coin toss be? We examine the top 2022 Super Bowl Specials.

The Super Bowl is the one game of the year when sportsbooks expand the betting menu to include special/exotic props. Each year they become more creative and these 2022 Super Bowl specials contribute a significant portion to the handle taken by each sportsbook.

Years ago, it would have been unimaginable to think that you could wager on props related to the halftime show, the length of the national anthem, or the first commercial to appear.

We have highlighted a few of our favorite Super Bowl Specials that have been posted at the top legal U.S. sportsbooks.

Color of Gatorade poured on winning coach: Yellow/Green (+350)

I rewatched the final seconds of the Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV victory against the Tennessee Titans, hoping to find out what color of Gatorade was dumped on head coach Dick Vermeil. My first thought was that this might be a superstitious move on the part of the Rams to have the same color available on their sideline.

Vermeil did not receive a Gatorade bath since the game came down to the final play when Tennessee Titans receiver Kevin Dyson was stopped a yard from the end zone.

If you believe the Bengals will win the Super Bowl, it seems logical to wager on the color orange. However, the Bengals have used clear Gatorade or water for their victory dumps on head coach Zac Taylor in the past. Consequently, DraftKings has made clear/water the favorite at +200.

In my opinion, the odds on clear are too short. This price is driven by the Bengals' history, but +200 is a little excessive, considering the Bengals are +166 on the moneyline.

Since I intend to back the Rams in the Super Bowl, I prefer yellow in the prop bet. It seems that this is the only color that could be used on both sides. The Rams have yellow as their team color, and the Bengals may have yellow Gatorade due to the LSU connection between QB Joe Burrow and receiver Ja'Marr Chase. Yellow Gatorade was repeatedly dumped on head coach Ed Orgeron at LSU, so it could be a superstitious play by the team's two biggest stars.

Who will the Super Bowl 56 MVP thank first: City/fans (+275)

It appears that this market price is determined by a relatively small amount of information that has been readily available to all.

With the Rams favored to win the game, Stafford is the short shot for Super Bowl MVP at +130. If you watch several of Stafford's postgame interviews, you will see that he almost always thanks his teammates first.

This has resulted in the team/teammate price at DraftKings being as low as +100. Although I am aware of the history, I believe there is a different perspective in play here.

Since the Super Bowl will be played in the Rams' home stadium, Stafford could thank the city and fans first. You will also be bringing into play Burrow's acceptance speech by betting on the city/fans. Burrow is a native of Ohio and appreciates the opportunity to represent Cincinnati in the Super Bowl.

At a price point of +275, I would prefer backing city/fans for this prop rather than betting on the MVP thanking his teammates at +100.

Will a QB have a reception? Yes (+800)

Coaches love to showcase their trick plays in the Super Bowl, and with two offensive-minded coaches overseeing the Bengals and Rams, we could see some creative play calling.

Stafford has made two career catches and Burrow has none, but would we really be surprised if Burrow makes a highlight-reel catch in the Super Bowl?

The other aspect of this prop that has me leaning toward the Yes side is the fact that the Rams and Bengals have wide receivers who can throw the ball. Tyler Boyd, Odell Beckham Jr., and Cooper Kupp have all attempted passes this season.

Will a defensive player score an offensive TD? Yes (+3000)

During Super Bowl XXXVIII, we observed New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick pull out the bag of tricks and run a red-zone play for linebacker Mike Vrabel. Imagine how the Super Bowl MVP market would change if McVay was able to get defensive tackle Aaron Donald a touchdown on a trick play.

Will a non-quarterback throw a TD? Yes (+1500)

As I noted earlier in this article, there are multiple receivers on each side who have attempted passes this season. During the regular season, both Beckham and Boyd completed passes of over 40 yards. Not to be outdone by the wide receivers, Rams punter Johnny Hekker can also throw the ball.

Coin toss: Tails (+100)

I would rather lose with tails than win with heads. I apologize, but I do not make the rules.

Two bettors went as far as to wager $6,300 on this prop at Caesars. What is the significance of $6,300? It appears that they spent the entirety of their sign-up bonus on this one bet.

Either Burrow or Stafford to have 500+ passing yards: Yes (+6500)

There have been many comparisons made between Burrow and Tom Brady ahead of Super Bowl LVI. Ironically, Brady was the last quarterback to throw for 500 passing yards in the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl LII, Brady passed for 505 yards in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

I consider this a bomber play at +6500, but nothing Burrow does at this point will surprise me. In Week 16, he threw for 525 yards against the Baltimore Ravens. Therefore, this prop is not completely unrealistic.

Total successful FG distance: Over 120.5 yards (-115)

Bengals kicker Evan McPherson is two field goals shy of tying Adam Vinatieri's playoff record of 14 made field goals. With Money Mac kicking for the Bengals and Matt Gay kicking in his home stadium, I expect strong performances from both. I find this total to be very low, and I like the Over on this wager.
