As the Los Angeles Rams clash with the Cincinnati Bengals, we look at some of the more fun novelty prop bets for Super Bowl 56, as well as picks for your squares contest.

The biggest sports betting event on the annual calendar is upon us. After a wild NFL season and several unexpected results in the playoffs, we are set to take in a Super Bowl matchup that few could have predicted.

For the first time since the AFL-NFL merger, two teams seeded outside of the top three in their respective conferences will meet with a championship on the line. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, is where it will all go down as the Rams face the Bengals on Sunday evening.

While there are of course the standard game picks and traditional props available, the betting menu for the Super Bowl goes beyond that. Some of the most exciting and entertaining props fall under the fun/novelty category. Even if you don’t intend to wager on Super Bowl LVI, perusing the various novelty props on the board is sure to offer a good laugh!

Below, we look at the top fun Super Bowl prop bets ahead of this year’s matchup between the Rams and Bengals (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook).

What are Fun Super Bowl Prop Bets?

You don’t have to be an NFL betting expert to have action on the biggest game of the season. When it comes to the available selection of Super Bowl prop bets, there are a number of novelty and exotic props that come around only once a year. The expansion of Super Bowl props has gone far beyond the actual football game itself. In fact, some of the fun props don’t even require bettors to know or understand the sport at all!

Pick your spots right and you could turn a profit, even if only a minimal one. Sometimes, taking the unpopular side of a novelty prop offering is the best way to ensure a winning ticket.

Novelty Super Bowl Prop Bets

Fastest ball carrier: Jefferson (+330)

While there are bound to be several Super Bowl prop bets that casual football fans will have no idea on where to start, gauging speed is pretty self-explanatory. Although this novelty prop will be difficult to track during the game itself, it is also a fairly short list of players who figure to post the fastest time during the game. From a value standpoint, there is again an opportunity as even the favorites are listed at or near 3-1 odds.

While Rams wideout Van Jefferson did not run a 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, the second-year pro has plenty of speed to burn. So much so that Los Angeles features him almost exclusively as a deep threat. He was also clocked as the fastest player on the field during his week at the Senior Bowl prior to last year’s draft.

Will there be an octopus? — Yes: (+1200) | No: (-2000)

What is an octopus you ask? Well, let’s just say it is one of the most difficult statistics in the game of football to achieve. An octopus occurs when a player scores a touchdown and then also scores the subsequent 2-point conversion attempt. Thus, that same player accounts for all eight of their team’s points scored on that particular possession.

Given how difficult it is to score an octopus, it is no surprise to see the prop odds offering a 12-1 return if the combination were to actually happen in Super Bowl LVI. For profit-hungry bettors, laying the juice on the "No" is definitely the way to go. For those who are simply in it for a good time, not a long time, a Super Bowl octopus would be pretty dang awesome.

Considering the rate at which the Rams feed receiver Cooper Kupp targets, he’d probably be the most likely player to accomplish the rare feat.

Will any kick hit the uprights? — Yes: (+400) | No: (-550)

The wording on this kicking prop is worth noting. When referencing a pair of football goalposts, the uprights do not include the crossbar. Thus, DraftKings is only taking the vertical parts of the goalpost into consideration here. Bettors should be careful to double-check the wording if they find this type of prop offering elsewhere.

Once again, the most likely outcome on this Super Bowl novelty prop is that no kick will hit the uprights. Then again, the likelihood is certainly much greater than a player scoring an octopus. Could Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson doink a long field goal attempt? Will Rams kicker Matt Gay’s minor hamstring injury impact his accuracy? One could certainly lay out several arguments for why it is worth betting the “Yes” at a 4-1 return.

Who will the Super Bowl MVP thank first? — God/Religion (+350)

For the record, God/Religion is not the favored choice on the board as to whom the Super Bowl MVP will thank first in his acceptance interview. Here is the full rundown of options DraftKings is offering on this fun postgame prop:

Team/teammates: (+100)City/fans: (+275)God/religion: (+350)Family: (+800)Any other: (+1000)Coaches: (+1600)Team owner: (+2000)

While the MVP’s teammates are certainly a deserving choice as the betting favorite, one cannot underestimate the emotions that will be flowing in the moment. How many times have we seen athletes give praise to God, the Heavenly Father, after a career-defining moment of success?

In all honesty, most people who have a semblance of faith point their praise and thanksgiving to The Lord before all else whenever they accomplish something in life. At +350 odds, it’s worth taking a shot that a religious belief is the first to be recognized by the Super Bowl LVI MVP.

Super Bowl Squares (Any Quarter): Rams 0:0 Bengals (+300)

While Super Bowl squares have long been a popular office pool contest this time of year, you can now also have added betting action on square outcomes. For those who may not be familiar, a Super Bowl square is deemed a winner if the corresponding number assigned for each team matches the last digit in their score at the end of a given quarter.

Of course, when playing traditional Super Bowl squares with friends, family, or coworkers, the numbers are randomly assigned after squares are selected. However, you can pick your score outcome when betting on the Super Bowl squares novelty props at DraftKings. Considering that 3-1 odds are being offered on the 0:0 combination to turn up at the end of ANY quarter, this actually isn’t a bad wager to make in terms of value either. Other options that might be worth a look include:

(+450) Rams 3:0 Bengals(+500) Rams 7:7 Bengals(+650) Rams 4:0 Bengals
