Today we feature our top college football picks, NFL picks, NHL picks and NBA picks. Yes, there is plenty of sports betting action tonight and we've got the best bets right here.

NFL - Browns vs. Bengals (-11)
Johnny Football will be involved in this season’s Chapter 1 for the Battle of Ohio as starter Josh McCown is sidelined with a rib injury. The Brownies split the series with the Bengals last year, but this is a brand new season and these Cats are for real…at least until the playoffs. I am not quite sure how rusty Johnny is suddenly going to make anything happen with an offensive line that has given up more sacks than just about any team in the league against a swarming Bengals pass rush.

On the flipside of the ball, Andy Dalton will want to rebound after a less than stellar game against a very good Pittsburgh defense. This Browns defense is missing a key component in Joe Haden, as well as safety Donte Whitner which will allow AJ Green to roam free. This should be ice cream for Dalton and the Cincinnati offense who could win this one by three touchdowns and no one would be surprised. The NFL odds makers are clearly giving the Browns too much street cred in this AFC North showdown and if Cleveland isn’t getting torched through the air then their lackluster run stop unit will be shredded by the tandem of Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard.

The bottom line here is that the Browns won’t be able to stop the Bengals when they have the ball, which on its own wouldn’t necessarily preclude them as an underdog in your NFL picks because of the big head start the oddsmakers are giving them. However, when you factor in their impotent offense against a game defense, the writing on the wall is clear.

College Football - Nevada vs. Fresno State (+4)
The Nevada Wolfpack will run, run and run some more on this Fresno State team, which means plenty of time for the clock to keep ticking because Fresno State likes to do the same. The betting public has short-term memories and will recall with great clarity how Air Force dropped bombs last week to the tune of a 42-14 thrashing of the Bulldogs. That alone will be enough for Jo Q. Public to fade Fresno State and include Nevada in his college football picks, but not us. We understand that Nevada averages 25 points per game but surrenders close to 27. That’s not exactly a recipe for success. The college football odds makers have set this line by giving the Bulldogs a four-point head start and we believe that is more than enough to make this a live home dog.

Here are a few betting trends you may want to consider:

Fresno State is 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as a home underdog of 3.5-10.0.

Nevada is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win.

Nevada is 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a losing home record.

NBA – Grizzlies (-4) vs. Trailblazers
Nobody likes laying points on the road, especially a seasoned gambler, but there are times when I forego a big, juicy bacon burger in favor of a chilled garden salad. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes you have to do what is good for you and, in this case, we will lay the road lumber that the NBA odds makers demand.

The Grizzlies have had the Blazers’ number recently going 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in Portland while the favorite in this series, regardless of venue, is 4-1-1 ATS. The Trailblazers were on the court last night defeating the Jazz in Utah but then had to fly home to face a talented team that looks to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Blazers are definitely on a mini-roll, as they have won their last two games as road underdogs. However, the last time they played at the Moda Center, the Blazers found themselves on the losing end of a 101-90 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.

The Grizzlies are coming off a dominating 103-89 performance over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night which was in stark contrast to the woeful effort they put forth the previous night in Golden State, where the Warriors hammered them 119-69. In this third leg of a four game road swing, Memphis is poised to not only notch another win but give us a cover in our NBA picks. Here are a few stats to support my contention that the Grizzlies will cover this one tonight.

Portland is 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

Portland is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.

Portland is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero day’s rest.

Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.

Grizzlies are 55-26-2 ATS in their last 83 games as a favorite of 0.5-4.5.

NHL – Avalanche (+120) vs. Coyotes
The Avs take to the highway and land in the desert tonight to take on the Coyotes in what has been a boon to their win/loss record over the past three contests when meeting in Arizona. Colorado has registered a 3-0 ATS record when meeting the Coyotes in their own arena, and we expect that to continue tonight as we get a live dog in our NHL picks.

The NHL odds makers have given us plenty of value here, as the Avs are staked as +120 dogs, but we feel the books have the wrong favorite. Colorado is coming off an impressive 6-3 victory over the Flames on Tuesday night and we suspect the scoring to continue. The chief reason being we have just confirmed that Arizona netminder Mike Smith will be between the pipes and Mr. Smith has not been sharp lately. In their last outing, the Coyotes were handed a 4-3 loss at home to the Canucks, due in large part to the lackadaisical play of Smith. The veteran goaltender allowed two goals on only three shots in the first 4:26 and was yanked before backup Anders Lindback came into finish up.

The Avalanche have netted nine goals over the last pair of games and the ageless Jarome Iginla leads the team in goals with six on the young season. All Colorado needs is a strong outing from confirmed starting goalie Semyon Varlamov and this one should be a terrific spot to cash with a road dog. And though the Avalanche have a disappointing 4-8 record it should be noted that the Coyotes are 1-8 in their last nine home games when facing teams with a losing record. That stat fits the bill for us tonight as we are looking to go with a team on a scoring streak versus a goalie in Mike Smith who is having issues stopping the puck.
