Can the Raiders keep the momentum going at the expense of the Chiefs? It’s shaping up to be a right cracker to spot on week 14 NFL picks this Thursday night.

Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs

Point Spread Value

The Raiders are a solid 10-2-0 SU on the season, with an 8-4-0 ATS record overall that includes a 3.8 winning margin on average and a +2.8 differential versus the spread. On the road, they are perfect 5-0-0 ATS with a 6.4 winning margin and +7.9 differential versus the spread. However, despite these heady numbers, the following week 14 NFL pick is going decidedly against the Raiders.

Sometimes stats go out of the window. It’s about what happens on the field. The backstory to this Thursday Night football clash: the AFC West is coming down to a head. The Chiefs, who are 9-3-0 SU on the season, will be looking to close the gap on their divisional rivals and a win at Arrowhead to sweep the series no less would be pivotal. Over and above the divisional implications and home advantage, the Chiefs are in good form too. Coming off back-to-back dramatic wins over the Broncos and Falcons, they’ll be feeling confident of their chances against the Raiders, one would think.

The Survivor

As it stands, the Raiders boast the longest winning streak in the AFC conference at six straight. Those that aren’t buying what the Raiders are selling must be running out of excuses by now. Waiting for the bubble to burst is futile, particularly seeing they’ve taken the measure of some pretty noteworthy teams, including the Broncos, Panthers, Texans and Bills (to name a few). One can’t argue this isn’t a legitimate team any more.

That said, this very winning streak began seven weeks ago following a 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Oakland. The plot thickens. [Insert dramatic shiver]. Might the Chiefs sweep the series with home advantage? It’s certainly possible. Consider the Chiefs come into this game riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak that includes wins over the Broncos and Falcons, and they have a solid 4-1 SU record at home that includes a 7.2 winning margin on average. Granted the Raiders are 5-0 SU on the road, but this divisional title race is coming down to the wire and the Chiefs, with home advantage, better defense and overall experience in the latter stages of a season, just tip the scale ever so slightly.

Game Total

The Chiefs have a habit of playing up or down to their opponents. You won’t see the Chiefs going out of their way to dazzle viewers with flashy football. They do just enough on both sides of the ball to eke out the victory. Given the Raiders’ potential to light up the scoreboard and the overall motivation to win this divisional clash and avoid the series sweep, this game has the feeling of a scoring fest. Raiders are after all 10-2-0 in O/U betting thanks to their lightning fast offense and, in some measure, a soft defense as well.
