Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts are playing for their playoff lives, making this a must-win game. Where do we line up our NFL picks SU, ATS and Total?

  Pittsburgh Steelers vs Indianapolis Colts

Point Spread Value

Pittsburgh Steelers snap a four-game skid in week 11 and cover as the -8 closing road chalk thanks to a 24-9 victory over the hapless Cleveland Browns. Bless those Browns, nothing like beating up the league’s punching bag to bring up morale. As a result, the Steelers improve to a 5-5 SU and ATS mark, underscored by a 2.3 winning margin and -1.4 differential versus the spread. Speaking of punching bags, the Colts are after taking the 11th straight win over the Titans last Sunday. Talk about a personal punching bag, eh. In any event, the Colts are 5-5 SU and 5-4-1 ATS on the season with a -1.0 losing margin on average and +0.3 differential versus the spread. Both the Steelers and Colts have disappointed in 2016, but, arguably, allowances can be made for Pittsburgh more so than Indianapolis. After all, Big Ben went down with an injury along with a couple of his O-line stalwarts. What’s Indy’s excuse for their lacklustre effort thus far?

The Survivor

With a win over the Packers and Titans in the last three weeks (a week 10 bye in between), there are those NFL bettors that would argue the Colts are on the up? Certainly, a win in the last five games –and over the Browns, no less – isn’t technically a sign of Pittsburgh’s resurgence. As such, the Colts could very well be a popular NFL pick in both public and sharp circles. Yet, for our money, we’re just no buying what Luck and the Colts are selling. Big Ben can rip apart the flimsy Colts defense and LeVeon Bell can do a lot of damage on the ground.

Game Total

If this matchup follows previous trends, the Colts might be in for a long night and Big Ben and his motley crew will be left tucking into the traditional Turkey feast set up for the winner of Thursday’s primetime slot. Last year, the Steelers romped the Colts 45-10 as the -9.5 faves –albeit Luck was side lined then. The previous term though saw the Steelers mete out a similar result all while Luck was calling the shots. As a result, it’s really no surprise this game hangs on an incredibly high total. The Steelers are 3-7-0 in O/U betting while the Colts are the mirror opposite 7-3-0 in O/U betting. Nothing like a soft defense though for Big Ben and LeVeon Bell to light up, perhaps.
