This Thursday night contest is so bad both CBS and NBC passed on it, with the NFL Network being the only way to view. However, those betting NFL have a game to start the week, so let's go!

Truth be told, the big networks had no say, it was the way it worked out from the NFL schedule makers. For NFL picks, nothing easy about this Jaguars vs. Titans clash, unless you are trend better, which has Jacksonville at 8-2-1 ATS in last 11 meetings. Here are my Thursday night thoughts.

Jacksonville Covers If........

If they stop beating themselves like they did against Oakland. The Jaguars had the same number of yards as the Raiders at 344 but were a part of what causes most teams to lose, turnovers. The Jaguars were 3-0 losers on turnovers, making them -7 for the season. The Jaguars could not beat Alabama turning the pigskin over that much, seeing they would probably have a hard time anyway without all those miscues. The Jaguars also committed 13 penalties, another sign of a losing team.

For Jacksonville to beat Tennessee in a division game, Blake Bortles has to start playing like a franchise quarterback and not Jay Cutler. Every week the Jaguars before a game talk about running the ball and avoiding mistakes and they do neither. Bortles has a delivery flaw that has to be corrected, but it will not happen by Thursday. The Jaguars face team like them that does not know how to win, what will they do about it.

Tennessee Covers If.........

Figure out how to but away games. Tennessee came from behind against Indianapolis and took a 23-20 lead at home with just over six minutes remaining. Because of the Titans players not believing and executing, they are outscored 14-3 and lost to Indianapolis for a 10th straight time. Ask any talent evaluator who has the better roster at the moment, Tennessee or the Colts and the Titans would win out.

What the Titans lack besides belief is real difference-makers and the only way they take down Jacksonville is making the plays put the Jags on the defensive and playing with conviction on offense and defense and not being afraid to win. That means Marcus Mariota being on target against beatable Jacksonville secondary, to set up DeMarco Murray in the running game. Then the defense has to play with conviction, to show they expect to win, not hope to.

Your Thursday Night Football Winner Is?

This game reminds me of a famous saying and to paraphrase it - We have met the enemy and they are us. The NFL odds at A+ rated BetOnline have Tennessee at -3.5, with a total of 45.5. Though the home team has won four in a row, the Titans are 0-2-1 ATS as hosts to Jacksonville and 2-9 ATS as when playing at home the last two years.

With the extra half point, cannot overlook the Tennessee is 2-14 ATS against losing teams and will go against the Titans.
