Backed with more knowledge because of games played, we can survey the NFL landscape with more confidence as we work on making sides or totals selections for Week 3 of the 2017 season.

or your reading please, we will focus on totals for NFL picks, attempting determine the three best choices on the board and capitalize on them.

With scoring down due to a variety of factors, sportsbooks setting the NFL odds have been forced to make adjustments and many of the totals we see reflect that this week. Regardless, these are my three top total picks for Week 3.

Sinking Total in Chi-Town

Like the leaves starting to come off the trees in the Windy City now that autumn has arrived, the total on Pittsburgh and Chicago has been blown from 46 to 44 points. As to why this could be, it starts with Pittsburgh not being completely in sync despite its multitude of weapons. Le'Veon Bell sat out training camp which threw things off kilter. But as Ben Roethlisberger stated this week, "We (the offense) don't need to peak yet." Bears fans are hoping their offense has not peaked in averaging 12 points a game as the rumbling have already started, Mike Glennon or Mitch Trubisky under center. I'll will side with the lower score with Pittsburgh 10-2 UNDER as a road favorite the last three seasons and Chicago 29-13 UNDER off a road loss by 14 points or more.

Points Could Be Hard to Uncover in Nashville

Seattle's defense has given up only one touchdown to date and Russell Wilson with the Seahawks offense has only made two trips into the opposing team's end zone. With this, the total on this contest with Tennessee has slid from 44 to 42.5.

My initial thought was to go against the public, figuring Seattle has to start coming around offensively and the Titans have some solid offensive weapons. What changed by mind is Tennessee offensive threats, RB DeMarco Murray and WR Corey Davis (now Out), were day-to-day with hamstring strains and uncertain to play Sunday against the Seahawks. When digging deeper into the numbers I found Seattle is 31-12 UNDER on the September road with average total score 33.1.

Packers and Bengals Bust Through Other Side of Total

With the way the Cincinnati offense and defense are playing, it would seem inconceivable to contemplate backing an OVER. This should be especially true with Green Bay having 13 players listed on their injury report, which includes Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Why I still like the higher score is the Bengals have too much offensive talent to keep playing like they are and at 0-2, they will have an advanced case of urgency. Besides, some of the those Packers injuries are on defense. Let's also consider Green Bay at Lambeau Field, where in the last 5+ seasons they have averaged 28.7 PPG and the average final score reached 47.9. With a listed total of 44, I will back the OVER.
