Swinger did the splits in his NFL picks last week and now sees several opportunities to cash in this week’s slate. Let’s get down to business and review the NFL odds for Week 8.

2015 NFL Record (13-12-1 ATS)

Totals are the bane of my existence in the NFL this season. Last week again I flamed by touting the under 44 ½ in the Minnesota/Detroit game which looked dubious right from jump street. But the kick in the cajones is that the game slowed down and dammit I almost made it until the final score told me otherwise as the teams had combined for 47 points.

However, I continue to kill it when picking sides in my NFL picks. Last week we cashed with the Tampa Bay Bucs +3 ½ who had a substantial lead on the Redskins before watching it melt away. While that may have driven a dagger through the hearts of Bucs fans we cared not a whit as we grabbed the 3 ½ points which was plenty to cover as the 'Skins defeated the Tampa Bay 31-30. So let's see what we can do here and don't forget to look for two more plays on Saturday in my Late Week 8 NFL picks article.

Jets vs. Raiders
The NFL odds makers are making the Jets a slight favorite over the Raiders in Oakland. While I was surprised and even impressed with the way Oakland handled the Chargers last week I'm not so sure whether that's an indictment of the underwhelming efforts of San Diego or a good omen for what's to come in Oakland. What I do know is that the Raiders have finally found a quarterback in Derek Carr, and Amari Cooper is no joke.

But here's the big "however" coming right at you, all you underdog lovin', never saw a point you didn't grab kinda gamblers. The Jets will force the Raiders into a passing only mode because Gang Green does not allow teams to gain yardage on the ground. Last week the Patriots garnered one measly yard. One! And once Derek Carr begins passing the Jets secondary will have plenty of opportunities to intercept and make life difficult for Carr despite having Amari Cooper as a target. And you know damn well that Revis will shadow Cooper like a baby with his binkie.

Center Nick Mangold is most likely out for New York which is not a small issue. It could in fact be a very big issue in terms of getting the run game started and providing stout pass protection but this Jets defense is simply too good and I didn't like the way the Raiders defense melted away allowing the Bolts to rally with 23 unanswered fourth quarter points. Call me a square but when this one ends you'll be calling me a winner.

Woodman’s Corner (4-3 ATS)
I could sense a lack of confidence in Woodman's NFL pick last week when he isolated, out of all the games on the NFL slate, the Cleveland freakin' Browns as his pick to cover the number against the Rams - in St. Louis no less! Well hindsight is 20/20 as they say but anytime you make the Browns a best bet it is a specious proposition at best.

Alright, enough piling on here. The Woodman fully intends to redeem himself by taking the Vikings -1 as they travel to Soldier Field to take on the Bears. Now this is a pick I can get behind.

NFL Pick: Minnesota -1 at BetOnline

Cardinals vs. Browns
Caveat Emptor, my picks have been flaming faster than Richard Simmons at a Chippendale convention. That being said there is the due factor in play here so eventually I have to hit one of these friggin' totals. Brimming with confidence aren't I?

Okay so in this one we have a Cleveland offense that scored only six points last week against a good Rams defense to be sure but six points, really? On the flipside we have the Cardinals' offense that was prolific to start the season but have come down to earth somewhat. They have scored only 39 points over the last two games and the Cleveland defense is decent defending the pass but lousy stopping the run. That is where the Cardinals will go to work and if running the ball takes passing opportunities away from Carson Palmer then that is a good thing when you're going low.
