Week 3 will be here soon and there are some big injuries moving and shaking the NFL Odds this week.

Adrian Peterson – Knee
Adrian Peterson has a torn meniscus and while it is unknown how long exactly he will be out, he will surely miss the Vikings’ game this week and likely a few more in the future. The Vikings opened as +6½ road dogs against the Carolina Panthers and most odds shops have the Panthers as solid -7, or even -7½ favorites like at Intertops.

Peterson’s absence is going to be hard for the Vikings, especially with Sam Bradford still new to the offense. The Vikings will have to rely on Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata more in the weeks to come and it might get ugly in their first game without AP on Sunday against the defending NFC champs.

Jimmy Garoppolo – Shoulder
One of the biggest line moving injuries of the week is none other than the Patriots quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo. The young EIU product was removed from the game after a hard hit late in the second quarter of the Pats’ Week 2 game and he has an AC joint sprain.

The NFL Odds did have the Pats as +2½ home dogs on the short week against the Texans, but news coming out on Tuesday seems to lead to the conclusion that Garoppolo might be able to suit up on Thursday.

Coach Bill Belichick says that his quarterback might be a game-time decision and if he does indeed play, that could lead to the odds being offered right now, even after they have moved at +1 Patriots at 5Dimes.

Josh McCown – Shoulder
Jose McCown was playing through a sprained shoulder in his non-throwing arm last week and even though he was probably sending the Browns offense in the right direction, he will sit down in favor of a shaky rookie, Cody Kessler.

Right now the sportsbooks have the Dolphins as huge -10 favorites and this is the game where the value was the greatest. Miami opened as a -6½ favorite in the NFL Odds and have quickly jumped 3 ½ points because of the injury to McCown.

With a total of only 41 ½ at 5Dimes, this may also be one of the lowest scoring games of the week with Kessler under center. It’s the lowest total outside of the San Francisco and Seattle game at 40 from Bovada, but the Browns might not score any points. Miami -10 still seems like a solid NFL Odds value, even though Miami simply is not that good. However, their defense is better than expected and should dominate Sunday, take that into account for your NFL week 3 predictions.
