Bettors backing the underdogs cleaned up last weekend in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs with all four road teams getting points covering against the spread. Two teams, Tennessee in the AFC and Atlanta in the NFC won its game straight-up to advance to this weekend’s Divisional Round featuring the top two seeds in each conference.

NFL Hot Betting Trends Overview

When it comes to betting on the NFL over the course of the entire season, the favorites rallied from a very slow start to post an overall winning rate of 53 percent ATS. Home favorites ticked up a bit higher at 53.6 percent and favorites on the road paid off at a rate of 52.1 percent.

Going back over the last two months of games, favorites posted a 58.1 winning percentage ATS, so last weekend’s results definitely took bettors by surprise. With the tide turning back towards the underdogs in a big way in the first round of the postseason, betting this weekend’s action in the Divisional Round all comes down to digging deeper into the betting trends for each individual matchup to find the best value in the current odds.

When it comes to betting the total line, three of the four Wild Card games stayed UNDER the closing total line with only the Carolina at New Orleans game going OVER. The league trends for this bet favored the UNDER all season long at a winning rate of 53.9 percent.

AFC Divisional Round Trends

Tennessee pulled off an amazing second-half comeback against Kansas City in a 22-21 victory last Saturday as an 8.5-point road underdog. The Titans are currently set as 13.5-point road underdogs for this Saturday night’s game against the New England Patriots. The total line for this game has been set at 47.

The Titans are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a SU winning record and the total has stayed UNDER in their last four playoff games on the road.

The Patriots are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and the total has gone OVER in their last six postseason games at home.

Head-to-head in this matchup, the favorite has covered in five of the last seven meetings and the total has gone OVER in four of the last five meetings in New England.

Sunday’s AFC tilt is a Week 5 rematch between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jaguars won first meeting 30-9 as 7.5-point road underdogs and they come into this game as 7.5-point underdogs on the road again. The total is set at 41 points.

The Jaguars are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 conference games and the total has gone OVER in their last four games coming off a SU win.

The Steelers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and the total has gone OVER in five of their last six games played at home.

NFC Divisional Round Trends

Atlanta comes into this Saturday’s matchup against No. 1 seed Philadelphia as a three-point road favorite given the Eagles’ dire situation at quarterback with Nick Foles taking over for Carson Wentz. The betting line for the total has been set at 41.5 points.
