As Christmas approaches, we are getting down to the nitty-gritty for this NFL season. The Week 15 NFL odds are out from the books and we move ahead to secure cash for ourselves in various ways.
The sportsbooks won again last week, but they did not kill it and are unlikely to the rest of the regular season barring an upset filled weekend. The books took some hits to the chin having one-sides action with Seattle and later New England. But those did was cut into profits already earned with heavy action on spread losers Buffalo, Chicago and Kansas City. Though there was wise guy action on Oakland, most parlay cards and teasers were loaded with Denver money, which ended up with the house.
Let's move ahead to NFL teasers, as football handicappers like myself use teasers more frequently to be right side of key numbers to build an edge. While I present a four-team teaser weekly, break these out into two or three-team teasers, which increases your chances of winning, as I have actually been correct overall on 39 of 54 choices (One Push) and took three of four yet again.
Minnesota +0.5 Teaser Odds
Head coach Mike Zimmer knows he cannot just run Adrian Peterson and expect to beat playoff caliber teams. He did open up the offense against Arizona but his club committed three turnovers which was their undoing. But Chicago does not present such a challenge, having a run defense with 4.7 yards a carry and has to stop the Vikings No.5 ranked running game. The way these teasers odds are, literally, all Minnesota has to do is win the game and already they are at 10-3 ATS for the season. Plus, favorites off a road loss winning 60-75% or more of their games, in the second half of the season, are 32-12 ATS and most importantly doing so by 14 points a contest. Good choice for NFL picks.
Kansas City -1.5 Teaser Odds
With these teaser odds, we take the Chiefs off the -7.5 and go under -3, leaving us only one possibility to not win at one point outcome, unless they somehow are miraculously upset. With Baltimore plugging in players at many positions just to have 11 on a side, Kansas City are in a great position to resume their dominance after an off performance versus San Diego. With the way the K.C. defense is playing and Ravens offense is struggling, for sports picks, you have to really like the Chiefs 21-0 record on the teaser line off one or more consecutive Under's the last three seasons.
N.Y. Giants +11 Teaser Odds
I will admit, Carolina at +1 is awfully tempting for teaser odds, but I'm going to take the Giants on a hunch. First of all, I like crawling over key numbers of 7 and 10 with home underdog in a big game. You know the Panthers want to remain undefeated, but reaching the Super Bowl is more important. New York is in a desperate fight just to win their crummy division and has more to play for in the short term, along with a history of coming up large in these kind of contests. In addition, road favorite like the Panthers off a win against a division rival, winning 75% or more of their games on the season, are 3-14 ATS since 2013, winning by only 3.5 points a game.
Denver +12.5 Teaser Odds
The Pittsburgh offense has been hotter than the ramp up for new 'Star Wars' movie, with five consecutive games of scoring 30 or more points. However, they have not faced a defense like Denver's, which is tops in fewest points allowed and in yards. I'm not suggesting the Steelers will not move the ball, but Ben Roethlisberger will face an unrelenting pass rush both off the edge and up the middle, which is certain to affect its accuracy. Denver offense is not very explosive, but I forecast they will reach at least 20 points and the Broncos defense will not surrender more than 30, making this another six-point teaser winner.
