The NFL season is finally upon us, and after splitting four NFL Prop Picks in the Thursday Night kickoff special, I am ready to get back in the black with three team props picks from bet365.
Browns vs. Jets – Race to the Points
Using this game and the term ‘race’ in the same subtitle seems almost blasphemous. However, the race I’m talking about in this one is neither team getting to 25 points. If that’s the case, and this game has both teams still in the teens or low 20s, the NFL odds payout is an incredible +120. With a total of 40 points, and really no offense from the Browns and very little from the Jets, this might be the lowest scoring game of Week 1. If you want a play that might be a little more risky but profitable, taking neither team to get to 20 points might be the play of the week at +425. As long as the Browns’ defense shows up on the road in this one and can limit the Jets offense, this one is a steal for value.
My Pick: Neither team to get to 25 points (+120)
Browns vs. Jets – Yes/No Three Unanswered Scores
I couldn’t get away from bet365 without noticing what was the thorn in my side last season; the three unanswered scores prop. It is one of the more lucrative and frustrating props of any that bet365 offers, and it is my weakness. However, here we are again with the Browns and the Jets. This one is a little risky with the possibility that the Jets win this one 24-0, but I think both defenses are good enough to ensure that neither team goes on a scoring streak in this one. Plus, the NFL odds for the ‘no’ are at +167, which is more than enough value. Even with the possibility of a Jets blowout, there is also the possibility that neither team even scores three times. Take the ‘no’ here and add it to your Week 1 NFL picks.
My Pick: NO 3 Unanswered Scores (+167)
Vikings vs. 49ers – O/U 4.5 TDs
The Minnesota Vikings have seen their NFL odds for this one go from +4 ½ underdogs, up to -3 favorites on this road in a matter of months, and there is a strong reason for that. Very sharp NFL bettors know that the Vikings have a shot to be a playoff team in the NFC this season, and going against a bad 49ers defense might be the world’s first look at the upside of the Vikings. Their defense is going to be above average this season, and with Teddy Bridgewater paired with an outstanding core of skill players, and Norv Turner running the show, this team has almost limitless upside. Did I mention they get Adrian Peterson back this season to open things up for Bridgewater and the offense? That being said, I could easily see them getting three or four touchdowns in this one and making the over here look like a great play to close out Week 1 on Monday. The NFL odds aren’t bad at -120, and I expect both teams to combine for five or more touchdowns here. Take the over.
My Pick: OVER 4.5 touchdowns (-120)
