The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ competitive window looked to be over after Tom Brady announced his retirement — until he announced his return just 40 days later. Can the 44-year-old take the Bucs to the promised land once again? Here are our Buccaneers 2022 odds, picks, and preview.

It’s been a busy offseason for Bucs’ GM Jason Licht and the rest of the brass. In wake of the Chris Godwin injury news, Tampa Bay added a pair of former Atlanta Falcons wide receivers in Russell Gage and Julio Jones.

Tom Brady’s return alleviated their need for a new quarterback, but Rob Gronkowski’s retirement has created a path to playing time for veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph. The Bucs’ roster seems to be as strong as ever, and a postseason birth is likely.

Below, we preview the 2022 NFL season for the Buccaneers with a look at the team's futures markets and make our top picks (odds via DraftKings SportsbookFanDuel Sportsbook, and Caesars Sportsbook).

To win Super Bowl (+750)

History has shown that betting against Tom Brady often doesn’t go well. The five-time Super Bowl MVP will be 45 years old when the 2022 season begins, yet he’s still slinging it as well as ever. The biggest competition he has would be the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers out of the AFC if they reach the Super Bowl. The Bucs have an incredibly deep roster, arguably at the same level as the Bills, Chiefs, and Chargers.

Regardless, Brady has shown time and time again that his teams are often matchup-proof. Betting on Tampa Bay to win it all at +750 odds seems like a shrewd wager.

Over 11.5 wins (+105)

Last season ended in disappointment for the Buccaneers. They fell a field goal short of getting through to the NFC Championship after a 13-win regular season. With that being said, they’ve only gotten stronger through their offseason additions such as Kyle Rudolph, Julio Jones, and Russell Gage.

The NFC South won’t be overly strong, but the Bucs still have a somewhat difficult schedule including games against the Chiefs, Bengals, Rams, and Ravens. Betting the Over still seems like the stronger play, given Tampa Bay’s potential to win any game regardless of opponent and their potential to rack up wins within the division.

To make the playoffs (-650)

It was a long 12 seasons in Tampa Bay between 2008 and 2019. The team missed the playoffs every single year, and only once finished above third in their division during that entire stretch. Those days are over, however, and their chances of both winning their division and making the playoffs are very strong.

The only way they could conceivably miss would be if Tom Brady’s play finally hits a wall, but that seems unlikely despite his age.

Despite the juice involved, this wager does seem like all but a sure thing.

Brady Over 4520.5 passing yards (-112)

This market is a bit tricky to navigate. On the one hand, Brady threw for 5,316 yards last season which is a total that is significantly Over the current line. On the other hand, Brady has thrown for more than 4,520 passing yards in a season five times in the last ten seasons. This line seems very sharp.

One thing working in Tom’s favor, however, is the extra game that was added to every NFL team’s schedule last season. Tampa Bay’s offense will likely be pass-heavy as well, meaning there will be plenty of opportunities for Brady to throw the ball.

Taking the Over seems like the safer choice.
