The Jets won big last week, but it's not looking good for them this weekend in Carolina. Find out inside who we like with our NFL picks.

Odds Overview

The NFL odds range, as some sportsbooks have the Panthers favored by 11 and others have a line as high as 12.5. The O/U is at 40.5 at time of writing.

Carolina enters with a 9-4 SU record and has managed a 8-5 ATS mark, while Rex Ryan's team is 6-7 SU and 7-6 ATS.

New York Jets

New York's ridiculous roller-coaster of a season continues as they try to keep momentum high after a 37-27 win over Oakland. Before the victory the Jets had lost three straight, with all three losses coming by double figures.

It wasn't very pretty against the Raiders, but New York found a way. Geno Smith had 219 passing yards, with two total touchdowns and one interception. Chris Ivory had 76 yards and a score in the victory.

New York improved to 5-2 SU (5-2 ATS) at home with the win. The bad news? Now they have to head back on the road, where they've truly been terrible in 2013.

The Jets have won only one game outside of New York this season. They've dropped games to New England (13-10), Tennessee (38-13), Cincinnati (49-9), Buffalo (37-14) and Baltimore (19-3), while their only win was against a bad Atlanta team.

A solid defense (#11) has kept them competitive, but they've been awful offensively, ranking #30 in total offense. They're really going to have to buckle down against the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina's amazing run had to come to an end sooner or later, but the manner in which it happened was a little surprising.

The Panthers had won eight consecutive games (highlight wins over New England and San Francisco) heading into a Sunday night battle with Drew Brees and the Saints. New Orleans showed up to play and sent Carolina packing with a 31-13 loss.

Cam Newton and the offense just couldn't keep up. Newton was 22-of-3 for 160 yards and a touchdown, which was caught by Steve Smith (six receptions for 49 yards). DeAngelo Williams was good for 63 total yards in the loss.

Carolina, ranked second in total defense, had no answers for New Orleans. Brees accounted for 313 passing yards and four touchdowns.

One would have to think the Panthers will do better against Geno Smith, who's thrown 20 interceptions  in 13 games this season. Carolina is surely chomping at the bit to get after the rookie this weekend.

NFL Pick

Simply put, there's no way we can have any faith in New York on the road. It's just not going to happen.

We feel a lot more comfortable in taking the Panthers, regardless of how many points they're laying. Carolina's covered in five of six home games this season and we're backing them to show New York just how superior they are. The Panthers should give Smith fits all game long here, leading to at least a turnover or two.

With the Jets coming off a home win and Carolina ready to pounce after a bad loss to New Orleans, this situation sets up really well for Newton and company. Take the Panthers to cash as huge favorites for your NFL picks.
