Join us as we weigh in on the second week of NFL preseason games, shine the light on the NFL totals currently trading for each and every matchup and offer up our choice predictions.

One week down, three more to go in the preseason. We look ahead to week 2 of the preseason with a view towards breaking down total betting markets and serving up our choice NFL picks.

Nikki’s Game-by-Game Record, Week 1 NFL Preseason:
SU: 9-7
ATS: 8-6*
Total: 9-5 *
*Omitted: Browns vs. Packers and Bills vs. Colts due to absence of NFL Lines and Odds available at the time of writing

Eagles vs. Steelers
Total Lines on this game are bouncing up and down, ranging anywhere from 38.5 to 40.5 depending on your choice sportsbook. That’s quite a wide range all things being considered. The injury to Carson Wentz and Brad Gradowski, backup quarterbacks in the respective camps, probably plays a part in this lowly NFL betting outlook. What’s more, there are the offensive concerns both teams showed in week 1 – the Eagles struggled to move the ball while the Steelers struggled to put up points once the reserves took over. These concerns do make a strong case for the UNDER bet in our books, even if Ben Roethlisberger gets some playing time.

Free NFL Picks: Under 40.5 -110 at Pinnacle

Bengals vs. Lions
The Lions showed an intensity in week 1 that bodes well for their season, not to mention they put up quite a lot of points at the expense of the Steelers’ second and third string teams. The Bengals, meanwhile, grappled with the Vikings and while they lost a close one they did struggle to put up points.  This game should have a bit of a different makeup and if the Lions light up as they did in week 1 the Bengals should be able to respond in kind.

Free NFL Picks: Over 40.5

Bears vs. Patriots
If week 1 of the preseason were a sign of what to expect, Chicago fans can be worried. New England Patriots though should feel supremely confident after their opening win. This one could get ugly for John Fox, who is reportedly losing the locker room as players anxiety and strife grows.

Free NFL Picks: Over 40.5

Falcons vs. Browns
The Browns host the Falcons in week 2 of the preseason, a game that boasts the lowest total on the NFL odds board for Thursday’s round of NFL betting. As it is, the bulk of the total bets coming down the wire is going towards the UNDER 37. Matt Ryan and the Falcons though can put up the points and the defense isn’t exactly up to snuff yet. The question is whether RGIII will be able to move the Browns offense and give the fans something to cheer about.

Free NFL Picks: OVER 37 -110 at Heritage

Raiders vs. Packers
After the Raiders put up 30 points in Arizona in an opening road victory, bookies roll out a rather high 42.4 total for this game. With the Raiders offense looking hot and Aaron Rodgers set to take a few snaps in this game, it’s no surprise that the OVER is being bet furiously.  For our money, we’re going against the grain here and taking the UNDER on our NFL picks.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 42.5 -110 at Bet365

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010760, "sportsbooksIds":[43,19,169,118,1096], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Vikings vs. Seahawks
Betting on this game is almost even in total markets with the Under edging the Over on 56.5% of the market share. It’s easy to understand why this is the popular bet, so synonymous are these teams for their defenses. However, Russell Wilson is coming off a great offensive year and although he won’t play all four quarters he could make an impact on the scoreboard.

Free NFL Picks: OVER 38.5 -110 at Bookmaker

Jets vs. Redskins
This game is split 50-50 down the middle in total betting markets. The Jets defense are no slouches and could make it tough going for the Redskins. Plus, both teams are coming off pretty tame performances in week 1 albeit the Jets were winners and the Redskins were losers. It’s unlikely that Todd Bowles will play his starters too long, which has us considering the UNDER on our bets.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 40 -110 at WilliamHill

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010755, "sportsbooksIds":[349,167,192,999993,19], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Dolphins vs. Cowboys
The Dolphins and Cowboys put up a lot of points respectively in week 1. Yet, it seems most NFL bettors tipping this game to go UNDER the projected 40.5 point total currently trading across most sports betting platforms. For our money, we like the OVER in Tony Romo’s home debut in the preseason and the Cowboys’ return to AT&T after a debilitating 2015 season.

Free NFL Picks: OVER 40.5 -110

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010754, "sportsbooksIds":[442,626,1439,999996,92], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Cardinals vs. Chargers
The Cardinals were upset by the Raiders in week 1, the Chargers didn’t bother showing up in Tennessee. Philip Rivers doesn’t play a whole lot in the preseason so there’s not much to expect from the Chargers against the Cardinals in week 2. Bruce Arians is also unlikely to risk a whole lot in this game.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 40.5 -110 at Heritage

Panthers vs. Titans
The Panthers and Titans collide in week 2 of the season, a game that is surprisingly cornered with the hosts across sports betting platforms. The Titans will be buoyed by their opening win over the Chargers and in their second home game of the season, they’ll look to carry the momentum. The Panthers are playing their second straight road game after a loss in Baltimore.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 41.5 -110 at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010763, "sportsbooksIds":[93,169,300,238,43], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Giants vs. Bills
The Giants left much to be desired in week 1 while the Bills did enough to give fans a measure of optimism for the coming season. That said the Bills didn’t face an elite quarterback in week 1 as Andrew Luck stood on the side lines. Eli Manning is sure to feature for a stretch of this game. And the Giants should look to work out their offensive and defensive issues a bit more in this game.

Free NFL Picks: OVER 40 -110 at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010749, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,1096,93,169], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Ravens vs. Colts
The clash between the Ravens and Colts hangs on a 41-point line unanimously across sports betting platforms. The game is sure to feature Andrew Luck for a stretch but Joe Flacco isn’t scheduled to play. This one could go either way but we’re leaning towards the UNDER on our NFL picks as we don’t expect the starters to get a whole lot of playing time.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 41 -110 at JustBet

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010756, "sportsbooksIds":[1275,93,1593,1602,169], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Bucs vs. Jaguars
The Bucs struggled in week 1 in a loss at the Georgia Dome while the Jaguars barely made an impression in New York. The game hangs on a 40.5-point total across sports betting platforms but there are plenty of NFL bettors on the fence with this game. Consider the Bucs are under new management and coaching style, it’s possible we’ll see more sloppy plays and errors as they try to adjust. Jaguars know what they have in third-year quarterback Blake Bortles so the starters aren’t likely to feature a whole lot.

Free NFL Picks: UNDER 40.5 -110 at Bet365

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010757, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,1096,300,999996], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Saints vs. Texans
The Saints offense needs no introduction, neither does the Saints defense that is notorious for being porous. The loss at the Foxboro was case-and-point. Houston Texans are likely to give Brock Osweiler adequate playing time to get him ready for the season. While the Texans are notorious for a stout defense, this could be a right cracker.

Free NFL Picks: OVER 41 -107 at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010751, "sportsbooksIds":[238,1096,93,19,43], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

49ers vs. Broncos
If the Broncos defense is as stingy as it was in week 1, the Niners are in trouble you’d think. The Broncos shut out the Bears 22-0. They could potentially heap similar such misery on Chip Kelly and the Niners at Mile High.

NFL Picks: UNDER 40 -110 at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010753, "sportsbooksIds":[83,93,238,118,43], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Chiefs vs. Rams
The Chiefs and Rams close week 2 of the preseason in Los Angeles. The Chiefs lost a narrow one at home to the Seahawks while Rams debut in winning style to a national audience. Interestingly, the NFL betting public is backing the Rams for a second straight winning performance at home. Whether that actually does happen remains to be seen, but one gets the sense it’ll be a lot tougher against a stout Chiefs defense. Still, whichever way you slice this game it could be a right cracker as Los Angeles warms up to their first NFL season in over two decades.
