Swinger's Record (25-20-1, +2.6 units) *Each wager is graded from 1 to 5 units*
Last week worked out well but I can't help but dwell on the losses - or in this case, the loss. It's hardwired in a gambler's DNA to gnash his teeth over the bad beats or the poor decisions because we're optimists by nature. We expect the wagers to all be winners and therefore are downright stunned when they go south.
But last week I had winners on Over 49 in the Washington/Atlanta tilt and then cashed in the late game with the Steelers +3 (-135) and Steelers +110 on the money line. However, in our only loss of the game I felt like a flyweight boxing a heavyweight, knowing I was done before the first punch was ever thrown. Yes, I had Under 41 in the 49'ers/Bucs game and had this gnawing feeling right before kickoff that this was going to go bad. And it did, final score SF 33 TB 14.
Let's try to move way out in front this week and sweep the board in our NFL picks.
The Fins will come out flatter than an eight-year old girl in a sports bra for this one on Sunday. They won their Super Bowl last week when they doused a last minute rally by the Patriots to secure a 24-20 home victory.
The Bills on the other hand have a tremendous pass rush and Ryan Tannehill will feel the heat the moment he steps back from center ready to launch. In the NFL what goes up must come down. This is a good spot for the Bills who are better than their record suggests. Buffalo beat them in their first matchup earlier this season on the road in Miami as 4 ½ point dogs in NFL odds and won 19-14 the last time they met at Ralph Wilson Stadium which November of last year.
Play Buffalo +3 (-120 buying the ½ point up from 2 ½) for 3 units at WilliamHill.com.
The Titans have lost five of their last six (and covered in NFL odds in only one of those six games) yet they are installed as 5 ½ point road favorites? The Jags even beat them in their own house last month 29-27 and beat them last year when they rolled into Jag-Town 24-19 as 3 ½ point pups in NFL odds.
Though Jacksonville lost last week to Buffalo, prior to that they had won four of their last five and this team is vastly improved from their putrid start. You wanna give me points at home with Tennessee coming to town? I will thank you kindly.

The Giants offensive line is as thin as Kate Moss on a hunger strike. Conversely the Lions defensive front is pretty nasty. This will lead to a comedy of errors by the already laughable Eli Manning. The Lions love playing at home while New York would just love to see this miserable season end. The end is indeed nigh for Big Blue while Detroit still has some unfinished business.

The Woodman's Corner (9-6, +2.4 units) - Guest Handicapper
The Woodman didn't need the points last week as the underdog Baltimore Ravens got the job done in Motown defeating the Lions 18-16 as six-point pups and delivered yet another lock-line winner to the Woodites. This week our intrepid handicapper once again takes the points only this time he's getting a bundle as the Cardinals travel to Seattle and get a 10 ½ point head start. The Woodman says play Arizona +10 ½ in your NFL picks at Bet365.com.
