The New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl and this time it is the Philadelphia Eagles that will attempt to dethrone the kings. Let's analyze this matchup, as well as the NFL odds, and wrap the season up in winning fashion.

Swinger’s 2017 NFL record: 28-30-2 ATS (+2.95 Units)

We clawed our way back to .500 after a spectacularly disappointing first half of the season and were 10 plus units ahead of the game until we ran into a brick wall in the conference championship round. We rapidly morphed from a wise guy to a square as we backed the Patriots (3 Units) and Vikings (4 Units) and watched our season long profit take a tumble to where we now sit at nearly three units to the good after a season's worth of NFL picks. It's beats losing but it hardly feels like winning.

I would be remiss if I didn't highlight and applaud the absolutely stellar season being had by my colleague the Woodman, whose NFL Pick of the Week is included in each and every edition of Swinger's Picks. He is a documented 15-5 this season after 20 weeks and naturally cashed with the Eagles last week. Smokin'!

The Super Bowl may be the NFL's biggest game but that doesn't mean it should be your biggest wager. Unlike the regular season where you have a buffet of games to choose from, this is a take it or leave it proposition and you can enjoy the game without betting the rent. I am leaning towards the Patriots because they have an enormous advantage at quarterback and nearly two decades worth of Super Bowl experience. If Rob Gronkowski plays, which I believe he will, then so much the better.

The NFL odds have tumbled from Patriots -6 to -4 as of this Thursday morning writing. The money is pouring in on Philadelphia but much of that could be backlash to New England's vice-grip on the Lombardi Trophy and people are just getting tired of seeing the Flying Elvis logo year after year. As the days progress, and Gronk is looking like more of a sure thing to suit up, don't be surprised if the sharps take a bite out of a sinking line and back the Pats at what they feel is a weak number. As for me, I will drop just two units on New England -4 as the Pats have never won a Super Bowl by more than six points in their five SB victories and to bet any more than that feels reckless. The Pats are a solid lean but not a lock so I will bet accordingly.

All hail the Woodman! Will you get a load of this record? Those who read this column religiously understand we are nothing if not transparent. We will happily accept the applause when we win but don't run for cover when we lose. For better or for worse it's, a journey we take together where we bitch about the losses and celebrate the victories.

No one can ever question the veracity of our records because all one needs to do is click on my name at the top of this article and go back to my previous columns, get the results from the previous weeks and do a little simple math. And that's why I can vouch for the Woodman's 15 ATS covers out of 20 NFL picks. A stunning cover rate of 75 percent! Sounds like a scamdicapper touting a bullsh*t record but it is 100 percent legit.

After betting primarily underdogs week after week, the Woodman is letting his heart dictate his wager in the season finale. His New England roots will not allow him to do anything but back the Pats despite the fact he must lay the lumber and like it. Like it he will after TB12 hoists the Lombardi Trophy for a record-breaking sixth time in his career and the Woodman caps off a spectacular betting year.
