As we were shown throughout the last couple of weeks, the Super Bowl provides ample opportunity for sports betting bliss. Here on Super Bowl eve, we’re wrapping up our prep with some of our favorite longshot bets.

It’s the Super Bowl, so go big or go home, right?

After digging into every bit of minutiae for the big game, it’s time to have some fun with a look at some of the most unlikely results with the longest odds. I’ve identified a sneaky first touchdown scorer candidate and a star pass catcher down the odds list to lead the game in receiving yards. I also have a running back pegged for a huge day through the air, and an exact score prop destined for greatness.

Here are the top longshot bets for Super Bowl 56 (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Super Bowl Longshot Bets

Most receiving yards: Odell Beckham Jr. (+1100) ?Alternate receiving yards: Joe Mixon 60+ (+520) ??Kendall Blanton first touchdown scorer (+1400) ?Exact Super Bowl score: Rams 27, Bengals 23 (+12000) ?

Most receiving yards: Beckham (+1100)

If you believe QB Joe Burrow and the Bengals can score their way to a Super Bowl victory, receivers Ja’Marr Chase or Tee Higgins might represent decent options to lead the Super Bowl in receiving yards gained. I don’t see this one playing out that way, though.

In a game I expect the Rams to win, Cooper Kupp is the most obvious candidate to fill that role. That’s why he’s listed at +120 at DraftKings Sportsbook and -110 at FanDuels. Of course, that wouldn’t really be much of a longshot bet. So I want to pivot our attention to the No. 2 receiver in the potent Rams offense, a player who has been operating more like a 1B to Kupp’s 1A in recent weeks.

If Kupp’s massive performance was absent from the box score of the NFC Championship Game, you might have taken a look at Beckham’s line and said “Yup, that’s the alpha receiver in this offense.” Beckham caught nine balls on 11 targets for 113 yards in that win, reminding everyone of his elite talent.

Now, containing Kupp has been an unsolvable mystery this season. He won the Offensive Player of the Year vote for a reason. However, if the Bengals decide to go all-in on trying to stop the best receiver in football, Stafford’s increased willingness to pepper Beckham makes for an interesting scenario heading into the Super Bowl. Beckham has integrated into an ideal role for the Rams offense. Big-time players make big-time plays. Would it surprise anyone to see him have a memorable game on the sport’s biggest stage?

Not me. I like the +1100 odds you can get on this wager at FanDuel, compared to just +800 at DraftKings.

Alternate receiving yards: Mixon 60+ (+520)

The Bengals player that I feel best about producing a notable stat line from an offensive standpoint is Mixon. That said, I’d lean toward the Under on his rushing yards total. Where I’m looking for Mixon to thrive is in the passing game, as my anticipated game script sets up perfectly for him to have considerable involvement through the air.

Mixon has had four games this season with 50-plus receiving yards. Though he cleared the 60-yard mark only once, I anticipate the effectiveness of the Rams pass rush will force head coach Zac Taylor into dialing up more frequent short passes. Mixon has run 25 or more routes in each of his last four games and should see another healthy dose in the Super Bowl. Burrow will likely look to dump it off quickly as an extension of the run game.

The Rams run defense may bottle up Mixon on the ground; however, short passes can help the Bengals in terms of ball control and time of possession. It can also help keep Burrow out of harm’s way. Though Samaje Perine has seen some passing down work recently, Cincinnati would benefit from leaving its RB1 on the field as much as possible in the most important game in franchise history. I like Mixon for a solid receiving output in this one.

Touchdown Prop Longshot Bets

Blanton first touchdown scorer (+1400)

The Rams placed tight end Tyler Higbee on injured reserve earlier this week. That means it's all systems go for Blanton. With Los Angeles’ displaying regular use of the tight end position in its passing game, Blanton should definitely be considered a threat to make some noise in the Super Bowl.

For one, Blanton has already nailed the first TD scorer prop once during these playoffs in the Rams' win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that situation, the relatively unknown backup tight end from the University of Missouri cashed a massive ticket in the range of +10000 for those few fortunate bettors with the foresight to predict it.

The cat is out of the bag on the Rams’ willingness to look at Blanton in the red zone. A return of +1400 feels worth chasing considering he’s the only pass-catching tight end for the Rams.

Score Prop Longshot Bets

Exact score: Rams 27, Bengals 23 (+12000)

Exact score props are the motherload of Super Bowl longshot bets. Calling your shot on the precise way the game unfolds is guaranteed to produce a windfall worthy of unparalleled celebrating.

Some of the most popular exact score wagers that have been placed to this point have trended toward high-scoring scripts. Though I believe this game sneaks Over the total of 48.5, I don’t think it does so until the latter stages of the contest.

The Rams are favored by 4 points in the Super Bowl, and I believe that number is right on the money. So does the betting public, as people have hammered the Bengals any time the spread has pushed to 4.5. With Kupp and Beckham operating at such a high level for QB Matthew Stafford in this offense, I don’t see the Rams scoring fewer than three touchdowns. The Bengals picking up a couple of end zone trips of their own, coupled with a healthy dose of Evan McPherson, seems plausible as well.

So you heard it here first. Forgo your point spread bets on the Super Bowl and just devote those units to this exact score bet and watch the magic happen.
