The injury-ravaged Giants travel to Denver to face a Broncos' team fresh off a bye week. Let's take a look at the NFL odds and end Sunday's action on a winning note by cashing on this inter-conference affair in the Mile High City.

Eli Manning: A Quarterback Without Targets

Injuries are part of the game but the New York Giants got theirs in spades last week as they hobble into Denver without even one of their top four wide receivers. Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Harris are all done for the season while their only other legitimate receiving threat, Sterling Shepard, will miss at least this week with an ankle injury. Ironically, ankle injuries have plagued all the receivers in question except Harris who is out with a fractured foot.

Regardless of the nature of the injuries, the fact is all four are out of action leaving Eli Manning to search for targets that are unaccustomed to being even the fourth or fifth choice let alone the first and second option. Manning will have his hands full, particularly because his offensive line has struggled mightily this season and the Denver defensive front will be nothing but a nightmare for Manning the Younger. I'm not really sure how the Giants get points on the board as their rushing attack is averaging just 77.8 yards per game (30th) and their offense averages just 16 PPG (29th). Maybe they'll just pile up the safeties and get a few field goals to come away with the win. I kid because I love.

Mismatch at Mile High

There are two reasons why not to bet the rent on the Broncos as opposed to betting just the car payment. First, the Giants have skill players in the defensive trenches that could create problems for a middling passer like Trevor Siemian. Secondly, the Broncos are not a scoring juggernaut and eke out games based on a stout defense and an impressive ground attack that averages 143 yards per game, which ranks them third in the NFL after five weeks.

However, the Giants have no offensive threat to speak of and are playing against a Denver defense that is ranked No. 7 in points allowed, surrendering an average of 18.5 per game. Assuming the Broncos reach their 24.5 points per game average, how likely is that Eli & company will generate even 14 points? The NFL odds are reflecting the same thought process as the hometown Denver Broncos are now laying 11 to 12 points, which gives us cause for pause when considering a unit amount to wager on the Broncos.

Yet, the overwhelming conclusion is that Denver's defense will most likely play a huge role in garnering favorable field position via turnovers and forcing New York punts from deep inside their own zone. That could set the Broncos offense up for, at the very least, chip shot field goals added to any touchdowns they achieve throughout the course of the game. Don't forget that New York will also be without two key defensive players as DE Oliver Vernon remains sidelined with, what else but an ankle injury and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is suspended. Let's lay the lumber and back the Broncos in our NFL picks on Sunday night.
