Before the injury to Aaron Rodgers, this Week 12 Sunday Night Football matchup was looking to be one of the best of the season. It’s taken a step back in appeal since then, however, there are still some nice prop bets from Bovada, and I have one that could really bring some value to your NFL Picks.
Best Lines are at Bovada
Martavis Bryant O/U 45 ½ Receiving Yards
With Juju Smith-Schuster out for Week 12 and probably beyond, Martavis Bryant is going to need to take on a larger role in the offense. However, it remains to be seen how many extra targets he’ll get with Smith-Schuster out.
Bryant has seen more than five targets in a game only twice this season, and he hasn’t had more than 5 targets in a game since the beginning of October. Smith-Schuster has taken over as Ben Roethlisberger’s second favorite target behind Antonio Brown, but even if he does get six to eight targets in this one, there is no guarantee he gets to the 46 or more yards he needs to cash the over in this one.
Bryant does have the ability to catch some long passes, and the Packers’ defense has not been great against wide receivers this season. They have allowed a total of 1679 yards to receivers this season, and even though they allowed just 91 yards to Ravens’ receivers last week, I could see Roethlisberger targeting in on Brown and Le’Veon Bell even more this week.
There is also the probability that the Steelers run up a lead in this game and Bryant is ignored in the offense. With NFL Odds of -13 ½ in favor of the Steelers, there is a very good chance that the Steelers don’t even need Bryant to win this game.
So with no real track record this season of Bryant putting up big numbers, and the very negative game script for the big receiver, as long as Bryant doesn’t catch a couple of long balls, I’m liking the under for my NFL picks in this one.
