Early bettors were unanimous in pounding the OVER for Monday night's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers. Is this the right NFL pick?

Jason's 2015 record as of Oct. 10: 17-9 ATS; 0-1 ML (-1.00 units); 10-14 Total

Fie on't, these totals truly vex my soul. The football gods were at it again Thursday night, letting the Houston Texans score on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half against the Indianapolis Colts. Final score: Indianapolis 27, Houston 20. We had UNDER 45 in that matchup.

It was still the right NFL pick to make – especially with Andrew Luck sitting out again and the total dipping to 40.5 by kick-off. All we can do is keep getting our money in good, exercise proper bankroll management, and the good Lord willing, everything will work out. We've got a very easy pick to make in Monday night's game (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers, so let's get to it.

Watt's Up
Spoiler alert: It's the OVER. That was the unanimous pick of early bettors when the total opened at 45 points on our NFL odds, and as we go to press, there's still 67-percent consensus with the total at 45.5. We're certainly inclined to agree. WR Martavis Bryant is about to make his season debut for the Steelers (UNDER 3-1), and we're confident that will help unclog Pittsburgh's offense with Michael Vick at quarterback.

We're not nearly as confident about San Diego's offensive line, but there have been some positive developments on that front. Center Chris Watt (groin) was able to put in a limited practice Thursday after missing last week's game against the Cleveland Browns. Watt might not start on Monday, but he'll at least provide some back-up for Trevor Robinson, who played well in last week's 30-27 win (OVER 44.5).

Get Antonio Gates in Here
Meanwhile, the Chargers have an offensive star of their own coming off the suspended list. TE Antonio Gates had to sit the first four games because of a PED violation. Gates, who led the team last year with 12 TD catches, is reportedly in good physical shape and ready to resume his role as San Diego's top target for QB Philip Rivers. That's kind of important. And while Gates isn't known for his blocking skills, his mere presence will help the offensive line protect Rivers on Monday.

All we need is some nice weather to put the cherry on top. Looks like our wish will be granted; the forecast at press time calls for mostly sunny skies over San Diego with minimal chance of rain and not much wind to speak of. See how easy betting on football can be? We're so confident about this pick here at the ranch, we think it might even have a 54-percent chance of coming true. Hopefully we're not getting too overconfident. You want certitude? Play tic-tac-toe.
