The Steelers are expected to be a top team in the 2016 season, but their preseason so far has been rough. Their offense hasn't clicked and tonight our capper believes on a bounce back with his NFL Pick.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs New Orleans Saints (-3) 8:00 ET

It is Week 3 of the NFL-X season, the time that is traditionally used as a dress rehearsal for the starting teams of the NFL. Tonight’s contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints is the only NFL Week 3 game which features a pair of teams, which are not only 0-2 SU but also 0-2 ATS. Strangely enough, it is the offenses of these two teams, which have been particularly lethargic the first 2 weeks.

In tonight’s contest, I look for a bounce back by each starting attack unit, but for the superior defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers to prevail.

Last week, New Orleans lost a 16-9 decision at Houston. Despite 3 extra days of rest, playing with double revenge from a pair of defeats at the hands of Houston last year, and coming off a double-digit loss in their first game, the Saints showed little interest in the game, despite the traditionally, strong bounce back spot described above. Starting QB Brees was 5-8 for 29 yards, throwing a key INT. His back-up, McCown, showed decently with a line of 4-19-118. On the heels of their Week 1 performance, a 34-22 loss at New England, it signals what many will feel to be a bounce back spot in their NFL-X home opener.

Brees will certainly get more reps and be backed up by the able McCown. But, this is a New Orleans’ defense that allowed 30 PPG last season on 415 YPG in their 3rdconsecutive season of a downward defensive decline.

The late-season firing of former DC Ryan did little good, as the Saints were 3-5 SU in the 2nd half of the season. Against one of the NFL’s toughest schedules in 2016, I am not convinced that the offense can lead them to a winning season after consecutive 7-9 SU years of late. Far more interested in the Steelers’ bounce back, as they look to make amends for a TO plagued game last week!  In the preseason opener, they led Detroit 14-13, before a key fumble and special teams’ error and questionable defense allowed the Lions to rally for a 30-17 victory in a game where the Lions won the yardage 379-187.

Last week was even more embarrassing for the Steelers, as they faced in-state rival Philadelphia for consecutive home games. With 3rd string QB Landry Jones throwing 4 INTs, the Steelers’ offense again totaled only 207 yards and failed to dent the scoreboard in a 17-0 loss Those are a pair of embarrassing home performances, albeit in August, which begs for a return to form in a Game 3 road outing by the superior team.  After all, Steelers were a combined 22-13 SU L2Y with a prolific offense that averaged over 400 YPG in those 2 years. Look for QB Roethlisberger to play into the 2nd quarter tonight and for QB Jones to be well focused on a bounce-back performance after his embarrassing outing of last week.

Game 3 NFL road teams, who are 0-2 SU but priced as the better team, are an over 80% bounce back play in Game 3. I invite you to put the NFL odds in your favor and join me in my NFL pick on the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight.
