Seahawks have gone an impressive 28-14-1 ATS, on Thursday they will be hosting Cowboys. Let’s look at how these two teams did in Preseason Weeks 1 and 2 and handicap For NFL picks.

Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks
The Dallas Cowboys head to the Pacific Northwest and CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Thursday night to face the Russell Wilson (+650 to be NFL MVP, at GTBets) Seahawks in Preseason Week 3. Offshore sportsbooks opened up the Seahawks from healthy 4½-point (Bookmaker) to 5-point favorites (5Dimes) on Monday morning with the Total (Points) in the game set at 44½ (at 5Dimes). The ML (Winner) NFL odds have Seattle at -235 with Tony Romo  (40/1 to be NFL MVP, GTBets) and Dallas priced at +195 (5Dimes) on the takeback.

Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys (25/1 to win Super Bowl, at Bet365) are 1-1 SU and 2-0 ATS this Preseason, losing to the Rams in their first game (again) in Los Angeles, 28-24 (LA -5, 35½) on Aug. 13, and then pounding the Miami Dolphins, 41-14 in Preseason Week 2 (PK, 41) on Aug. 19 as Cowboys backup QB Dak Prescott (12-15, 199 yards, 2 TDs) has another great game, giving Dallas Head Coach Jason Garrett (40-48-2 ATS) a nice sense of confidence heading into the Regular Season with Starter Tony Romo (4-5, 49 yards) being so Injury prone and potential 3rd-stringer Jameill Showers (1-4, 15 yards) so raw and inexperienced. And Garrett, Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and Dallas (15/8 to win NFC Eastat PaddyPower) also saw a guy in Mississippi State State product Prescott who can run when necessary, as the 6-2, 238-pound Rookie rushed 3 times for 28 yards and 2 TDs against the Fish, so for now, it looks like the Cowpoke may have gotten one of the steals of the 2016 NFL Draft in Prescott...especially when backup QB’s are are hard to find as real Rock N’ Roll acts these days.

Besides Prescott, Dallas also got nice Rushing games from Alfred Morris (13 Rushes, 85 yards, RD) and Darius Jackson (14 rushes, 43 yards). The Receiving leaders for the Cowboys against Miami were Brice Butler (3 receptions, 74 yards, TD) and star WR Dez Bryant (3 receptions, 46 yards, TD) with starting TE Jason Witten oiling up his catching hands (2 receptions, 24 yards) and Geoff Swaim and Cole Beasley each have 2 catches in the rout. In the 2 Preseason game in which the Cowboys (14/1 to win NFC, 10Red) have played, there have been a grand total of 107 points, or 53.5 ppg.

Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks (17/2 to win Super Bowl, at PaddyPower) are also 1-1 SU in the Preseason, but the Seahawks won their opener in Week 1, edging the Chiefs in Kansas City, 17-16 (KC -3½, 36) on Aug. 13, and then losing in Seattle to the Minnesota Vikings—who have a very strong SU and ATS Record (7-2 ATS) in the preseason under Head Coach Mike Zimmer— here at CenturyLink Stadium in the Emerald City, 18-11 (SEA -2½, 38½) on Aug. 18. So in vast contrast to the numbers we have seen in the two Dallas Preseason games, there have been just 62 total points scored or an average of 31 ppg scored in the two Seattle (5/6 to NFC West, ar PaddyPower) Preseason games this August. In the Loss to the Purple People Eaters—in which the hosts were held scoreless for three quarters—Seahawks Starting QB Russell Wilson (5-11, 77 yards) got his share of work in but was also sacked 4 times by Minnesota (-41 yards), meaning Seattle not only still has work to down on its Offensive Line but who will also be glad they are playing the Cowboys, with a less staunch Defense. Expect a more productive and focused outing from the Seahawks Offense in this one with QB Wilson and WR Doug Baldwin getting more minutes.

Backup QB Trevone Boykin (10-20, 127 yards) had a fair game against the Viking and Head Coach Pete Carroll (62-43-3 ATS), and showed he has work to do after throwing an Interception and being sacked twice (-27 yards). Two RBs had nice games for the Seahawks with Troymaine Pope (10 rushes, 86 yards, TD) and Christine Michael (10 rushes, 55 yards) while Alex Collins (6 rushes, 13 yards) got some time and carries in on a young backfield which will all have to pitch in with Marshawn Lynch having retired in the Offseason. Antwan Goodley (5 receptions 65 yards), Kenny Lawler (3 receptions, 47 yards) and Tyler Lockett (2 receptions, 39 yards) had decent games catching the football for Seattle (4/1 to win NFC, Marathon), but for the most part, Minnesota held Seattle’s Passing game in check although Baldwin was only targeted once.

What to Expect, Side, Total and Team Trends
The last time these two teams played was last season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington where the Seahawks edged the Cowboys but failed to cover ATS as 4-point favorites (40½) in Week 7, 13-12, while the last time these two played in the Pacific Northwest city which gave us Starbucks was in Week 6 of the 2014 Regular Season where the Cowboys went into Seattle and upset the Seahawks, 30-23 as Dallas won outright a 10-point Underdogs (41½) and Wilson was held to just 126 yards Passing, so America’s Former Team is 2-0 ATS the L2 meetings against this NFC powerhouse and has played them very tough. But this is the Preseason and Seattle is coming off a humbling by Minnesota and Seahawks Head Coach Carroll will want to right the ship, so expect University of Wisconsin product Wilson to get more sets of downs here against Dallas.

Seattle HC Carroll is an impressive 28-14-1 ATS in the NFL Preseason while Cowboys HC Garrett is 9-13 ATS after these 2 covers, so there appears to be a big edge with that Trend as well as the Site where Seattle is traditionally dominant and has a stronger Home-field edge than most NFL stadiums. But again, this is the Preseason, and Week 3 will be a different beast than Week 2 just like Week 2 was different than Week 1. And Preseason Week 4 will be unique also.

Garrett has now played to 7 Overs and 12 Unders in Preseason while former USC Head Coach Carroll has played 22 Overs and 21 Unders after adding the two Unders this Preseason (33 and 29 points) to his ledger. So what do we make of these Trends and numbers and all and what can we expect? The Pace will be a big thing early on here with Wilson wanting to WD-40 some of that Rust away and Rookie Prescott wanting to stay in the groove he has this Preseason, there should be at least 20-27 points on the scoreboard around Halftime with likely three 2nd Half scores then needed to take the game Over. And with Cowboys Preseason tilts averaging 53.5 ppg after these first two weeks, riding the Points brigade in another basically meaningless game seems the wisest first approach. With a smaller NFL pick on the hosts Seattle also worth a shot with Carroll’s sparkling 66.7% ATS mark (28-14-1) in the Preseason coming into play in a game the hosts would probably like to register a solid “W”, being the last game in Seattle this Preseason and Seattle being 0-1 at Home after the humbling by the Vikings.
