Brent and I covered Week 17 in the NFL and the heart of the college bowl season in our Into The Weekend with BetDSI show this week.

Week 17 in the NFL always presents quirky handicapping and betting scenarios, and that was reflected in the betting action this week. There are a lot of big favorites that are generally being backed by the public, but a lot of sides are being backed by sharp action as well, although uniquely, the sharps have not come in on the same bets as much as they normally do.

There are a number of games where a team playing for playoff positioning is up against a team with nothing to play for as far as the post-season is concerned, and it’s interesting to see how the sharps played those games. Two of those games are the Bills/Patriots and Chiefs/Chargers, and both games have similar spreads where the home team is favored by more than a touchdown. But interestingly, in one game, the sharp action came in on the favorite, agreeing with the expected public action, but in the other, the sharp action came in on the underdog.

In college football, big sharp action often comes in on game day, and we have seen big moves this year so far on some lines that were stable in the days leading up to kickoff. But nevertheless, early sharp action has come in on some of the bowls for the upcoming week, and Brent have me a rundown, as he always does, of what that sharp action is.
