With Week 6 coming into sight, it’s time to start trying to extract some teaser value from the NFL Odds. A teaser is a nice way to shake up your NFL Picks, and it’s a great way to spread out your risk on a week-to-week basis. Here are three of my favorite 6-point combinations.
Broncos and Bengals
I’m leading off with two favorites to start Sunday, and we’ll start with Denver in New York. The NFL Odds have the Broncos as a -8 favorite, however teasing them down to -2 looks like a pretty solid value. New York’s offense is playing pretty badly right now, now matter who is throwing the ball. They have very little when it comes to skill players, and although they haven’t been playing great, the Broncos’ defense should put up a good stand here. The Jets are already 0-4-1 ATS this season, and +8 is somewhat of a tall task against the defending AFC champs.
On the other side we have the Bengals, who lost for the first time this season thanks to the suddenly relevant Patriots. That just means that this week they will look to take out their frustrations on the Panthers. The Bengals defense is obviously their strong suit, but the offense has been a pleasant surprise under the first year of Hue Jackson as offensive coordinator. I see them besting the Panthers at home, so add these two favorites to your NFL Picks.

Chargers and Bears/Falcons
The San Diego Chargers just keeps rolling, and the possibility of them being AFC contenders is increasing every week. Through injury and lack of skill players, the Chargers have quickly shown that they are a force. Now they have to travel up-state a few hundred miles to play the Raiders. The NFL Odds have San Diego as a -7 favorite, and while I probably wouldn’t wager that by itself, teasing them to -1 is much more appealing. Even after a bye and a new head coach, the Raiders won’t have enough to beat the Chargers.
For the other side of this one I’m going with a total. The Bears and Falcons have the largest NFL Odds total of the week at 53 ½, but teasing them down to 47 ½ makes this a nice add to the Chargers. Nether one of these teams plays defense all that well, and both have two of the most potent offenses in the NFC. I expect a back and forth duel from Jay Cutler and Matt Ryan, so add the over to your teaser NFL Picks.
NFL Pick: 2-team teaser, San Diego -1 & OVER 47.5, Bears, Falcons
Giants and Rams
My last teaser for the week starts off with an epic NFC East showdown between the Giants and the Eagles. Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, but right now the Eagles are the ones who look most vulnerable. This is especially true looking at the NFL Odds for this game, which favor the Eagles at -3. Teasing the Giants to +9 is one of my best teaser plays of the week. The Eagles are already 2-5 ATS when following a SU win, while the Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last five divisional games.
Finally on Monday Night Football we have another underrated divisional game, this time in St. Louis. Not only will the state of Missouri be hosting two different championship series in baseball that weekend, but also the Niners are in town to play the Rams, and the NFL Odds have San Francisco as a -3 road favorite. Teasing the Rams to +9 along with the Giants +9 is a great play in the NFL Odds. Even though the Niners bested St. Louis badly in two games last season, the three games before that the Rams either tied, or were within one score at the end of the game. I expect more of that style of game on Monday.
