The Matchup

The Seahawks opened the 2021 season with a promising 28-16 road win over the Indianapolis Colts where star quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 254 yards and touchdown passes. Running back Chris Carson rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries and wide receiver Tyler Lockett added 100 receiving yards and two scores on four catches.

But, week 2 was a different story for Seattle, who lost in overtime. Wilson threw two more touchdown passes and notched 343 yards, while Carson ran for 31 yards and two scores from 13 carries. But then the Seahawks absolutely blew a 30-16 fourth-quarter lead.

The Vikings are 0-2 entering Week 3 after losing in overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, plus a road loss to the Cardinals last weekend. In game one, quarterback Kirk Cousins finished the day with 351 yards and two scores on 36-of-49 passing. Dalvin Cook was the lead rusher with 20 carries for 61 yards and a score.

Minnesota should have won game two, but PK Greg Joseph missed a game-winning 37-yard field goal. In that one, Cousins threw for 244 yards and three scores, while Cook rushed for 131 yards off 22 carries. Wideout KJ Osborn shined on 91 yards and a score from five catches.

Prediction

It’s still hard to tell who these teams really are at Week 3. The Vikings have stayed very competitive, but it seems there’s a bit of miscommunication going on over there on the defensive front even after a solid draft. And the Seahawks’ defense got fully exposed last week but they won’t have to deal with a freak like Derrick Henry this week. Wilson should get his team back on track this week. After all, history shows that Wilson knows how to figure out Mike Zimmers’ defense as the Seahawks come riding in on a seven-game winning streak against the Vikings.
