Let’s take an updated look at special futures book prop odds on the eventual Week 1 destinations of NFL free agents Tony Romo, Alshon Jeffery and Eric Berry from two well-known offshore sportsbooks and see what the current numbers say about these players’ future jersey colors before these niche markets close.
Online sportsbook BetOnline posted odds on what NFL roster Cowboys QB Tony Romo will be on to start the 2017 season, and BookMaker.eu and Sportsbook.ag have joined the props party, with a huge 500-cent discrepancy between whether or not the EIU product will end up on the Texans, with Sportsbook.ag currently pricing Romo as a -165 favorite to play for Houston, while BookMaker has the Broncos (+228)..
Let’s look at offshore market prices for Romo, Alshon Jeffery, and Eric Berry and read into the current numbers. For a look at the Kirk Cousins' destination market, check out expert Matthew Jordan’s piece.
Romo has mouth-watering odds (+340) to be on the Texans roster Week 1 at BookMaker with Sportsbook.ag pricing the 36-year-old at -165 (to be a Texan) with the Broncos next in odds order at 3/1, The Field +5/1, the Chiefs 10/1, the Cowboys 12/1 and the Bears and 49ers both 15/1 with the Bills being Romo's long-shot destination at 50/1.
At BookMaker, the current odds are a bit different with "Field" at +214, the Broncos +228, aforementioned Houston +340, the Bears +556, staying put with the Cowboys +655 and being a Niner a +953 longshot. So the Wiseman bets Houston at BookMaker (+340), Chicago at Sportsbetting.ag (+1500) and then cries when Romo signs with Denver?
Perennially healing Bears WR Jeffery is priced -126 to stay in Chicago with “Field” the slight favorite at +103. BookMaker also has odds on the Eagles (+787), Titans (+1228), 49ers (+1921), Dolphins (+3189) and Ravens (+4605) posted. Logic and these numbers say Jeffery stays in Chicago, especially with 2015 Round 1 Draft Pick Kevin White a bust of sorts so far and Marquess Wilson, Deonte Thompson and Eddie Royal not so sure-handed nor dependable.Free NFL Pick: Bears +126Best Line Offered: at BookMaker
This one should be easy. BookMaker has the Chiefs' strong safety -215 to stay put. After fighting and overcoming Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and loyally playing for Kansas City for his entire career, although he said he will not play under the franchise tag, expect the 27-year-old Berry (“I want to end my career in Kansas City”) to indeed stay. The Field is priced at +180, the Falcons 6/1, the Bears 44/1, the Browns 58/1 and the long-shot Jaguars at +6350.Free NFL Pick: Chiefs -215Best Line Offered: at BookMaker
