A determining factor into the success or failure of the Baltimore Ravens will have to do with the color of uniforms they will be wearing from week to week. Sounds silly, yet this will be true.

The reason for this thinking is because of Baltimore's home and road schedule for this upcoming season. When thinking about the NFL odds for the 2017 season, the Ravens should be favored in each home contest, with Pittsburgh and Miami providing the stiffest challenges. However, when Baltimore has to shed either the black or purple home uniforms for the road whites, that is when more negative impulses arise.

The Ravens were seventh in total defense last year, but had problems against teams more skilled in moving the ball and these defenders spent too much on the field because the offense was so inconsistent.

As we know each season is different, but hard to overlook the fact coach John Harbaugh's club will be at Cincinnati (where they have not win since 2011) and at Pittsburgh, plus at Minnesota, at Tennessee and at Lambeau Field. Skip road games at Cleveland and one in England, and Baltimore's other six road foes were 32-15-1 SU last season.

Baltimore is a middle of the road choice to win the AFC at +1650 at 5Dimes, with the same with the Super Bowl at +4300.

In looking at NFL picks, Weeks 3-5 could be rugged, facing Jacksonville in England, returning home the following Sunday with always physical against the Steelers, followed by a trip to Oakland. That is a lot of flying miles in short period.

On the positive side, four of the Ravens last six contests are at home. With a still shaky offense, another .500 season is possible or 9-7 at best.
