Monday Night Football kicks off with a battle by the Bay. The 7-2 Los Angeles Rams make the quick trip to San Francisco to face the falling 3-5 49ers. We break it down with our Rams-49ers picks.

Fresh off the Rams somehow acquiring both Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. midseason, we have a meaningful divisional showdown on Monday Night Football. Arguably the best team in the league at 7-2, the Rams are looking to get back on track after a surprising loss to Tennessee. The woeful 49ers might be the perfect team to face.

Everything has gone wrong for the 49ers lately and the pressure is rising for head coach Kyle Shanahan. With a 1-5 mark in their last six, the 49ers desperately need an injection of impact. Now is the best time to switch to rookies Trey Lance and Trey Sermon if they're healthy.

The Rams would all but eliminate their foes from playoff contention with a win. Will they cover as well?

Here are my picks and predictions for the NFL Week 10 matchup between the Rams and the 49ers. (Odds via DraftKings; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

Rams vs. 49ers Odds Analysis

This line opened at three and has shifted slightly towards the Rams. At most, you'll see four points given to the road favorite, which seems surprisingly low. It's clear history is playing into this line and oddsmakers aren't simply looking at 2021 play.

The total has grown by two points as well, which is a tougher sell to go Over. We don't usually see as much movement on the total. Both teams have been finishing games in this range, if not higher, all year.

Editor's note: Rams WR Robert Woods (knee) was ruled out Saturday afternoon. The injury isn't reflected in this write-up.

Rams vs. 49ers Predictions

Rams -3.5 (-110) ?????

If we were just looking at this season's worth of play, this 3.5 number is ridiculously favorable for Rams bettors. The Rams have only been an underdog once all year and have been a favorite by less than four only once. They've failed to cover in three straight weeks and this could have caused an overcorrection on the line.

Simply put, the 49ers are a bad team. Their defense is relying on old corners and a lack of playmakers outside of Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. The offense lacks explosiveness because they continue to play technicians and late-rounders over their freak athletes.

At 2-6 against the spread this year and coming off a season-defining loss to Arizona's B team, the 49ers are facing a beatdown. I would be stunned if the Rams don't easily cover.

Under 49 (-110) ???

The last 10 matchups between these teams have an average score of 26.6-23.6 in favor of San Francisco. There's always something to rivalry games even when one team is clearly inferior. But if this game were to go Over, it's because the Rams dominated that much.

It's hard to fathom the 49ers covering and pushing the Over based on their play this season. I don't want to bet on that anomaly. I'll take the Under, though it's not a great line overall.
