Each week Joe Gavazzi picks an underdog whom he believes has an opportunity to easily hang within the point spread, if not win the game. In Today’s selection, he makes the bold statement that the Patriots are overpriced!

Cincinnati Bengals vs New England Patriots (-9) 1:00 ET

The public was all over the New England Patriots last week against the winless Cleveland Browns with the return of Tom Brady. Brady was little short of sensational in passing for 403 yards, highlighted by 3 TD tosses, in the Patriots’ wire to wire systematic destruction of the Browns. Now, New England returns home to a field where they are 13-1 ATS in regular season non-division games. With the home team on a run of 38-15 ATS in New England games, it would be very contrary to go against this team in Brady’s first home game of the season. In his absence, the Pats did it with a defense that’s allowing just 15 PPG for the season, and a running game that has averaged 33 carries for 128 yards while holding the opposition to just 86 RYPG. With Brady at the controls a good case can be made that New England is currently the best team in the world.

Enter a Cincinnati Bengals team who is just 2-3 SU, 1-4 ATS this season and now on a 6-8 SU slide after starting 2015 with a perfect 8-0 SU record. Last week, the Bengals trailed Dallas 28-0 in the fourth quarter before making the final a respectable 28-14. But they were outrushed 180-96 and allowed the Cowboys more than 400 yards. Averaging just 84 RYPG at 3.4 YPR gives them little hope of establishing a ground game. In addition, the Bengals are just 3-12 ATS in non-division contests. Yet the feeling is that this remains a quality Cincinnati team who has a top 10 offense and is actually allowing fewer yards on defense than the Patriots. I give them an excellent chance to stay inside this near double digits number, and to keep this game competitive throughout.  I invite you to put the NFL ODDS in your favor and join me in my NFL PICK on Cincinnati today.
