We look at week two preseason NFL betting matchups and serve up game-by-game previews complete with SU NFL picks to pad your bankroll. Check out where we’re lining up our money.

NFL Preseason Week 1 Betting Recap
First crack at predicting NFL games SU, ATS and Total went rather well with winning records in all three markets in our game-by-game previews. That being said, bookies were the real winners of the first week of preseason betting according to market reports and consensus betting polls. Only six out of sixteen games went according to consensus betting trends and books cleaned up pretty good.

Nikki’s Game-by-Game Record, Week 1 NFL Preseason:
SU: 9-7
ATS: 8-6*
Total: 9-5 *

*Omitted: Browns vs. Packers and Bills vs. Colts due to absence of NFL Lines and Odds available at the time of writing

Week 2 of the preseason is around the corner, set to kick off with a whole slew of games on Thursday, beginning with the Keystone battle between Philly and Pittsburgh. Highlights of the day include the reprisal of the wildcard playoff clash between the Vikings and Seahawks and the rising Raiders descending on Lambeau Field.

Friday’s round serves up three games for NFL bettors to sink their teeth into while Saturday’s round is a jam-packed affair that includes the Ravens at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Niners at Sporting Authority at Mile High and the Chiefs at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

So without further ado, let’s get cracking with our NFL betting analysis for each and every game, complete with SU NFL picks.

Eagles vs. Steelers
Coming off a win, the Eagles look to make it two in a row when they descend on Heinz Arena for an intrastate clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Tomlin’s side lost their preseason opener to the Lions at home last week, so they’ll be looking to bounce back. That said the Steelers are 2-5 SU and ATS in their last seven preseason home games. Are they really bothered about the results? Probably not. In the event, NFL bettors appear to be high on the Eagles with consensus betting trends leaning towards the Eagles both to win SU and as the 3.5-point road underdogs to cover. For our money, we’re going against both these NFL betting trends for the Steelers in the preseason and the consensus betting trends that tip towards the Eagles. Hardly impressive was the win over Tampa Bay – it was largely down to the sloppy performance by the Bucs rather than a concentrated account by the Eagles. The Eagles could struggle at Heinz Arena.

Free NFL Pick: Steelers -165

Bengals vs. Lions
By the 30-17 score in their opening performance at Heinz Arena, the Lions appear to have made an indelible impression on NFL bettors. At least where spread bettors are concerned as they tip the game towards the Lions as the -2.5 home chalk. SU consensus betting polls, however, take a contrarian stance with the Bengals taking in 61% of the early bets. That could be just the upshot of tempting NFL odds, which hang the Bengals at EVEN money or slightly higher. A side of Bengals’ quality is just too good to pass up at these NFL odds, underscored by better depth at quarterback and most positions on the field... The Bengals lost a close one to the Vikings in week 1 – easily they could have won it but teams don’t usually go all out in the preseason, do they?  Week 2 should see more of the starters and that matchup tips the scale towards the Bengals in our books too.

Free NFL Pick: Bengals +110
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Bears vs. Patriots
The Bears didn’t even strike an audible chord in week 1 when they faced the Super Bowl champions Denver Broncos. One could argue, it was a mismatch between a heavyweight and a lightweight. Be that as it may, it’s the same case in week 2 isn’t it?

Free NFL Pick: Patriots -175
Best Line Offered: at TheGreek

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010752, "sportsbooksIds":[227,1096,349,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Falcons vs. Browns
The Atlanta Falcons descend on the perpetually rebuilding Cleveland Browns. Few NFL bettors have much hope for the Browns in the upcoming season, in which case they can’t be expected to do much in the preseason either. It’s a meaningless game to all intents and purposes, but colour the world shocked if Dan Quinn and the Birds don’t fly the coop with a W.

Free NFL Pick: Falcons +120
Best Line Offered: at WilliamHill

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010759, "sportsbooksIds":[349,1096,227,169], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Raiders vs. Packers
The Oakland Raiders threw down the gauntlet with a 31-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals in week 1 of the preseason. By comparison, the Green Bay Packers barely edged the Cleveland Browns in a 17-11 victory at Lambeau. It’s easy to understand why the public is leaning heavily towards the Raiders both SU and ATS – they have more than 66% of SU bets and 52% of ATS bets at the time of writing. It’s important to note that Rodgers didn’t play in week 1 and McCarthy promised his starter will see some game time here before ceding the field to Hundley. Admittedly, we’re of two minds in this game. As such, we’re hedging our bets SU and ATS – going for the Packers home win but a Raiders cover in our game-by-game ATS picks.

Free NFL Pick: Packers -157
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Vikings vs. Seahawks
A lot is being made about this clash reprising the wildcard playoff game between this pair last season. Everybody knows what happened there. To some extent, there is something to be had in that. However, this is the preseason and these teams are hardly going to go all out to win this game when it’s meaningless in the broad spectrum of the season. In any event, the Seahawks are at home where they are nigh infallible and after last week’s heroics we’re not of a mind to go against the hosts. It’s worth pointing out consensus betting trends reveal 100% of SU bets going towards the Vikings in this game. In other words, our NFL pick is totally and utterly against the public.

Free NFL Pick: Seahawks -165
Best Line Offered: at bet365

Jets vs. Redskins
Jets and Redskins collide in week 2 of the preseason with the former coming off a winning performance and the latter a losing performance. Of all the games in the second week, this one appears to be unanimous across the board with 100% consensus betting for a Jets win and 90% consensus betting for Jets to cover. Clearly, the public isn’t buying what Kirk Cousins and the Redskins are selling.

Free NFL Pick: Jets +170
Best Line Offered: at WilliamHill

Dolphins vs. Cowboys
This game has us totally and utterly sat firmly on the fence. We’re not buying what the Dolphins did in New York last week but loathe to dismiss it out of hand. On the flipside, the Cowboys showed a lot of positives despite losing 28-24 in Los Angeles. Whose performance are we buying into more? Probably, the Cowboys, who have a talented roster in every category and an emerging backup quarterback that is generating excitement.

Free NFL Pick: Cowboys -165
Best Line Offered: The Greek

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010754, "sportsbooksIds":[227,349,43,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Cardinals vs. Chargers
Cardinals are coming off a rather bad loss to the Raiders while the Chargers are coming off an equally poor account in Tennessee. On balance the latter was worse because it features a defeat to one of the season’s less fancied teams, a side still in the fledgling stages of development and that is unlikely to become a playoff contender this season. The Raiders, by contrast, are on the rise and a sleeper NFL pick to perhaps crack the playoff circle. Nobody is surprised by their convincing win in Arizona. What does this mean for week 2? Something or nothing? Well, consider the way the Chargers limped to the finish line last term, we were sort of expecting more from them in week 1 although we did pick Tennessee to both win and cover. Arizona are the popular pick in public betting circles and we’re swimming with that tide.

Free NFL Pick: Cardinals +105
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010761, "sportsbooksIds":[169,227,349,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Panthers vs. Titans
The Panthers are the underdogs in this game? Shut the front door. Grab the NFL odds while you still can.

Free NFL Pick: Panthers +105
Best Line Offered: at bet365

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010763, "sportsbooksIds":[43,349,227,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Giants vs. Bills
What a gong show in week 1? So much for talking up the NY Giants and the new McAdoo era. Bills are also coming off a loss to the Colts in week 1, but their redemption is the fact that they were in the game for the most part and only lost by a point. Not holding out much hope for either side in this game, we’re hedging our bets with a Bills win and a Giants cover. Feeling no joy, though.

Free NFL Pick: Bills -144
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010749, "sportsbooksIds":[169,227,43,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Ravens vs. Colts
Ravens edged the Panthers in week 1 to both win and cover. In week 2 of the preseason, they take on the Colts, who are coming off a winning performance in Buffalo without Andrew Luck taking any snaps. This week, Pagano has promised his precious 72million-dollar-singning will play. But not a whole lot, so one can’t hang the outcome of this game on Luck. Then again he might not with Ravens’ starting defense looking rather ominous. On the flipside, Flacco didn’t feature in the win over Panthers and he may not play a down against the Colts either. Is that going to be a problem for the Ravens? Perhaps not with Ryan Mallet and Josh Johnson at backup. We’re of a mind to hedge our bets here in a close game, but, then again, we’re feeling a bit bold.

Free NFL Pick: Ravens +130
Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010756, "sportsbooksIds":[238,1096,227,349], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Bucs vs. Jaguars
The Bucs and Jaguars are looking for their first win in the preseason. To all intents and purposes, this is a tossup game in our books. The public thinks otherwise as they pound Tampa Bay’s tempting +130 NFL odds to win straight up. Home advantage though tips it towards the Jaguars, so we’re fading the public and shading the hosts on our NFL picks

Free NFL Pick: Jaguars -160
Best Line Offered: at BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010757, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,227,349,19], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Saints vs. Texans
The New Orleans Saints are raking in the bulk of the early betting to mastermind the upset in Houston. That’s quite the optimistic outlook for a side that has consistently ranked bottom in defensive categories against a host that has a formidable defense that ranks amongst the best in the league. These NFL trends might be a case of the price being too good. We’re not totally sold on the Saints until proven otherwise.

Free NFL Pick: Texans -150
Best Line Offered: at William Hill

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010751, "sportsbooksIds":[349,43,19,227], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

49ers vs. Broncos
After a cringe-worthy performance in week 1 can anybody hold out much hope for Chip Kelly and the Niners if Blaine Gabbert takes the bulk of the snaps? With Colin Kaepernick the Niners might have a chance here, but that’s just speculation. In any event, do you want to bet against the Super Bowl champions after they tore apart the Bears last week?

Free NFL Pick: Broncos -210
Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010753, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,227,349], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Chiefs vs. Rams
Los Angeles returned to the NFL with a big bang on national television last week. In their second straight home game, they enter as the considerable favourites to win and cover across sports betting platforms, a move that has us slightly nervous.  Isn’t it all just a bit of an overreaction to an emotional opening day? Besides, this is a good team in Kansas City Chiefs. Coming off a loss in week 1 but to only one of the top betting favourites in Super Bowl LI markets. Surely, there must be some allowances made for that as well as the depth and talent contained within the roster. For our money, Chiefs as the road underdogs is too good to pass up.

Free NFL Pick: Chiefs +140
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3010825, "sportsbooksIds":[19,227,1096,349], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
