It is NFL playoff time! As opposed to other plays, totals are totals and the thought process is not altered by postseason competition. You choose over, under or pass.

NFL: Wild Card Weekend

When looking at the NFL playoff odds, for the most part you only have better-quality teams among the dozen remaining, which makes choosing sides that much more difficult. With totals, the level of competition does not matter. You do your homework and make a decision. Turnovers are likely to influence that outcome no matter what, but generally speaking they have greater impact on sides more than totals.

Last week in our NFL picks we were 2-1 and continued our sterling season, raising our record to 30-17-1 (63.8 percent). Here are some predictions for the NFL Wild Card games Saturday and Sunday!

NFL Saturday: Titans vs. Chiefs

Free NFL Pick: Under (44.5)Best Line Offered: Heritage

The Tennessee offense has been underachieving all year, averaging 20.9 points per game while facing opponents that have allowed 22.5 ppg. QB Marcus Mariota and Titans are even worse on the road, as the average dips to 17.5 ppg. Kansas City closed the season in fine fashion at 4-0 SU and ATS. The return of the offense grabbed the headlines, but the defense did its part by permitting only 16.2 points per game in that stretch. Additionally, the Chiefs defense has been stout at home all year (16.9 ppg.) and should contain Tennessee for all 60 minutes Saturday.

NFL Sunday: Bills vs. Jaguars

Free NFL Pick: Under (39.5)Best Line Offered: Intertops

Jacksonville's defense is well-equipped to slow down Buffalo. They rank in the top three in several defensive categories and, with a rare large crowd that will be jacked, that should further fuel the Jaguars' fire. Bills running back LeSean McCoy says he wants to play but does not sound very certain, which further curtails Buffalo offense. Jacksonville's top-rated running offense figures to run at and around the Bills' No.29 run defense, and that keeps the clock running and shortens game. Make it Jacksonville 27-10 and an under play in Sunday's early game.

NFL Sunday: Panthers vs. Saints

Free NFL Pick: Over (48.5)Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

As a handicapper, you always want to be on the lookout for going against the grain. While I am not one to blindly bet against the public, undoubtedly, they lose more than they win. Nevertheless, they are not wrong all the time. And when the numbers support what they are betting, it is foolish to purposely go against the tide. At last look, more than 70 percent of football bettors were backing the over in the third matchup of the season between Carolina and New Orleans. Though both teams have fine defenses, in recent years when they have faced off they are 6-1 over, which includes 4-0 over in New Orleans. Do not look for that to change Sunday.
